This game is odd, but I still like it. I thought the dog that gives you advice was pretty funny and the recoil on the weapons is rindonkulous, especially for the machine gun classes. How the game plays feels closer to Postal 2 than Counter-Strike or Half-Life, so it feels a little janky, but it was still solid. For whatever reason, the map "Charlie" always crashes my game. I think it must have something to do with the 2nd or 3rd scripted bombardment that happens on the beach. Overall, I thought most of the maps were kinda boring, but there's still some fun stuff to be seen here. I just like exploring maps so I guess this isn't a real review. Unlike the other Source games I've played, these maps are much less abstract (makes sense because it's a WWII game). I liked Donner, Escape, and Forest because of how unique they felt compared to the others. My absolute favorites were Flash and Falaise because of their Autumn feel. Falaise takes the cake though because of its majestic skybox. I know that same skybox is used on a different map, but I think it works better on Falaise.
I first played Day of Defeat in 2003, long before it arrived on Steam, in 2026, it is obviously dated being 23 years old, clunky graphics, well dated everything really, but it still as a loyal players base and servers are still busy with players shooting each other and capturing bases and losing them again, the game is old but still fun, the game play must have something that as kept players interested in playing a well out dated game, maybe its because it is simple and just plain fun to play without any complicated scenario to deal with, its fun, its simple and it is still around more than 20 years later so it as something other games lack. it will not please everyone with a 2026 mind-set of FPS games, but fun is fun and that`s why we play games.
Muy Bueno
made my booty jiggle in this game pretty fun
not quite what i expected...
game was fun even if i got 0 kills, source is better tho
Çıktığı zamanda efektleri çok muazzam geliyordu şu an tırt ama az oynadım yine yaşlandığımı hissettim
very good use of the source engine to bring us a semi-realistic war game. my favorite part has to be the playerbase, many players that I have met in my first 60 minutes of playing were very helpful in showing me the ropes, and quite patient with me when i had accidentally tk'ed someone when they were in my LOF, and could not find the chat button. The gameplay is great, but a great playerbase will make the gameplay better. 10/10 would recommend.
