Great game all around. Art style is nice. Game is fun. Pretty impressed. 10/10
5.5/10
TL;DR: RNG So torn on this one. It could have been absolutely stellar with some more effort. I was hoping for an experience more like Hex: Shards of Fate or Etherlords II or something (a single player deck building experience). It's slightly like that, but the entire thing is poisoned by being more like Slay the Spire. Still moderately fun though. Biggest issue is that you're at the mercy of RNG and there are too many DLCs... so it's too hard to make a cohesive deck.
Pros:
- Card art is absolutely fantastic. You can immediately recognize cards and easily distinguish between them - Music is rather good - When you know what's going on, combat is decent. It's fast paced if you want it to be
Mehs:
- Enemies just barely hover in place and never do anything else. Kinda weird
Cons:
- The entire game is just "pick one of 3 paths" over and over and over. Doesn't really feel like you're traveling or exploring or anything - Card text is tiny. Keywords/icons sometimes don't come up at all - Not enough feedback in combat. Not enough sound effects. Not enough visual effects - No combat log - "Deckbuilding" is kind of a lie. You don't have direct control, which severely damages the experience in a campaign as you're constantly at the mercy of RNG - Too difficult to create a synergistic deck - No area damage or enemy groups or anything. Only 1 enemy at a time
Great game to be honest. There is huge amount of rng which is very true and can be frustating no doubt, but the devs are planning on working around that. Other than that the gameplay loop is insanely satisfying especially when you can land the combos. Even after completing one deck type there is still huge replaybility of that single deck considering there are over 1000+ card and over 50+ archetypes. huge steal for this amount. W devs
It might be worthwhile to add the option to save your run after completing a boss. Starting ALL the way over from the beginning of the game each time is frustrating, and a weakness of the genre.
