Date Warp

Seeing a lot of reviews saying this game didn't age well and while its visuals reflect a particular era of indie VN, under the hood I think it's aged like fine wine- however many years ago when I first played it, I was like "Yeah this game is pretty cool! I am having a good time! It is an Average Amount Of Good use of the VN genre" It's 2023 and first of all, significantly, it had left enough of an impact on me that I was struck with a Craving for this game specifically - thought I'd run one or two endings between other stuff, now at least 4 hours have passed as I run through 'em all because it's such a good ride. Despite invoking some cliches like the troubled tough-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside young man, its world ... (ellipses for a spoil-y wink and a nod) and its characters feel fresh, complex and easy to care about. Date Warp is exactly what it says on the tin and it's very, very good - it's lots of fun, gives you plenty to think about (in a good way) and the soundtrack slaps unnecessarily hard. i'm a huge hanako games fan - i've played most of their releases. this is a relatively old game which promises intrigue, an incomplete story which unpacks itself through achieving multiple endings (one of my favorite tropes!), and a mystery to be solved. unfortunately, this game disappointed me. it might be just its age showing, but the game was very short. i was able to 100% the game under 2 hours, and even after viewing all endings the story still seemed rushed and disconnected. the puzzles were surprisingly entertaining, and the characters had compelling personalities, but the romance routes felt very rushed and unnatural. surprisingly, my favorite character was bradley, which was the character that least appealed to me at the beginning. aiben's route, which i thought would be my favorite judging on his characterization, fell flat and his endings felt to contradict his established character. ultimately, i think this game is worth purchasing on sale, but nowhere near the full price.

VN with an interesting plot and puzzles that aren't too hard to solve. I got it for a dollar during a Steam sale, so I'd say it's worth it.

Good, anime style, visual novel and point and click game.

A visual novel with puzzle elements about a young woman who ends up trapped in a mansion and unable to leave. A solid story with some weird sci-fi elements that I overall enjoyed.

Had this game in my list, then library for many years. I don't know why I didn't just play it, but perhaps this was the right time with everything going on. Art may look dated at times, but the creators put a lot of effort into making this into a fun story. I am so glad it's more than a "which cute boy do you like best" game (didn't even get a romantic end in my route). I see touches of the author trying to share some of what helped them through their lives. Not saying this will change your life, but I can see this helping all kinds of people in a small, but positive ways. This was really nice. :]

Cute VN dating sim worth your time. You play as a female in this one, dating men.

It's pretty short, the routes are mostly all decided on one choice per character and it at least offers a number of them (some bad) and for sub £2 you can't really complain. The pipe puzzles are easy after you've done them once.

Loved this VN. Very cute - couldn't stop thinking of the Brad and Janet song... LOL. Never tried so hard to complete all endings before and none disappointed. Short but sweet!
