About
Survive the horrors of the Darkwood as you explore the ever-changing world by day, and seek shelter to survive the night. Scavenge for vital resources, build your defenses, and pray for the morning light.

How you came to this ruined land is a mystery, but now your determination to escape is set. But to leave, you must first survive. Explore multiple dense biomes as you make your way from hideout to hideout, while accumulating the resources, allies, and information you need.
The locals of the woods have a variety of dark quests and rewards for those brave enough to indulge their requests. However, the twisted inhabitants of the forest are often at odds with each other, and hard decisions will need to be made. The story will change based on your choices as you slowly uncover the mysteries of the Darkwood. Would you doom an entire village in hopes of reward from a creature, or try to assist what pockets of humanity remain?
From festering catacombs to fetid swamps, Darkwood’s landmarks, quests, and encounters are all carefully hand-crafted. However, with each new game, the woods and places of interest will rearrange, ensuring that you’re never quite certain of your path in the woods while also giving new opportunities with each playthrough.
Rather than momentary startles made to jolt you in your chair and then be forgotten, the most terrifying moments are designed to linger in your memories long after your journey ends. Some threads of terror will be immediately clear, but others may not be obvious without careful analysis of your discoveries in the world and your conversations with its inhabitants. This is a slow burn, atmospheric horror game with no jumpscares.

Your best hope of survival is in careful planning, and taking advantage of the many resources offered by the woods. Roam freely in a wide world, decide when to move on and when to fortify up, and weigh the risks and rewards as you balance escape against fleeting safety.
There are no quest markers or hand holding, and you’ll need to learn and experiment on your own. Continued exploration and understanding of the ever sinister woods and its denizens will be critical to your survival, and other characters and groups may have goals at odds with your own. Remember – don’t trust anyone.
Gather strange mushrooms, meat, and other oddities of the woods, and bring them back to your hideout for refinement. Choose to unlock powerful mutations like invisibility when holding still or the ability to regenerate by devouring wood, but embracing the power of the Darkwood will bring vulnerabilities as well.
From desperately swinging a plank to firing assault rifles, defending your life from the Darkwood will only become more challenging the deeper you delve. There are a myriad of weapons to both find and craft, and the less hungry residents of the forest may be willing to engage in trade. Your hideout will offer upgrades and enhancements to your weaponry, along with allowing you to produce less conventional solutions like molotov cocktails. Of course sometimes the best defense is one you may not need to be present for, and chain and bear traps or exploding oil drums may protect you best as you fortify your hideout for each night.
Adjustable difficulty settings will allow you to tailor the play experience to your preferences. Experience the story with unlimited lives, or embrace permadeath on Nightmare difficulty. Regardless, planning and patience will be paramount, and careful observation of your surroundings will serve you better than the most rugged shotgun.

When the sun sets, the hostility of the woods cannot be survived, and you must seek shelter in one of many hideouts you discover in your travels.
Even these makeshift bases will leave you vulnerable in their broken state. Seek out resources to repair what you can before carefully barricading the doors and windows to board yourself up and survive the night.
Secure fuel and keep the generator running to power what electrical fixtures remain. Though you may ward off many creatures that stalk the night, some cannot be defeated with your conventional weapons, and a flicker of light may be all that can save you from what dwells in the shadows.
No two nights will be the same as your base may be assaulted by creatures of the woods, become the site of bizarre rituals, or experience other unsettling events that leave mysteries to pursue when the sun rises. As your journey continues the line between dreams and reality may begin to blur. Experience disturbing vignettes that may conceal more beneath their grim portents and seek to unravel their mysteries in the waking world.

polish forest simulator To be honest I enjoyed the entire game and I would say that it's exactly what is shown and described on the store page and is my favorite unique horror game I have played so far. The atmosphere of the world and its art style with the project zomboid like cone of vision and 90s game top down perspective did a great job contributing to the horror element, for the most part this combined made you feel more uneasy as you waited for the unknown and let your brain fill the gaps in for whatever you couldn't see. While it had passive horror elements there were of course location scenarios that really managed to ramp up the horror in a very well done fashion as well thanks to the aid of the passive horror elements. The main gameplay loop of navigating inside the forest going to specific places might be a negative factor to some but also not. This really depends on if you don't mind it or didn't pay attention to it at all in the first place. In my case I have nothing negative say about it. The maps didn't feel that huge at all even when having to run across the landscape either way I was more focused on the atmosphere of the world and trying to understand the world. I would also say having to use land marks to figure out my local position on the map to adjust direction was also quite fun while not exactly the same but felt a bit like using compass bearings to figure out my way to go which in turn felt rewarding in a way. Finally sometimes having to run at a limited time because of my own fault before night fall back to my hideout from the edge of the map also added a bit to the horror element in a way. In the context of combat and difficulty I would say that I had no issues with it but this is of course coming from someone who played on the normal difficulty only. I forgot that firearms existed so I had beaten the game entirely with meele only. This is of course because there's a combat system that feels rewarding in a way if you pay attention to the enemies and manage to figure it out finally allowing you to meele/gun your way through enemies with no issues in every scenario and encounter. A bit more about the combat the enemies didn't really feel like your average game where you get beelined at and I think that was also great. Every interaction didn't feel silly and in your face you always had the option to either intrude or leave. I would say this is another case of where you gotta learn to "respect the woods". Finally I have to say the flavor text in this game was quite good and the characters with their interactions felt quite organic making them feel part of the world in this game. The moments where the game lets the player themselves decide if they trust xyz or not and then act accordingly were there. Sometimes the game really manages to make you feel distrust to what's in front of you and cause skepticism and having it end up being the opposite of what you thought or reverse of that.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

already played multiple runs in epic games which i gotten for free, decided to buy the game its that good this game arguably perfects psychological horror aspect, in the first run it makes you worry or panic over every tiny little thing wondering who's outside and where it is, and even after multiple runs i still end up finding some very rare encounters or moments which i didn't expect despite the fact its says its an unforgiving game, i would probably say it mostly applies to the combat and the time you have to gather resources, or maybe i already played it so many times that i've gotten too good at the game and end up having too much stuff to the point i cant find where to place them you have more than enough resources to have everything working and repaired and more so you almost pretty much do this at your own pace (provided you are decent at the game) tip: after you gotten a weapon, during nighttime i reccomend checking outside for a bit if you spot anything unusual, might find something interesting 10/10 game
this game simulates what the hantavirus could have been like if it was unleashed in bulgaria
Burn them all.
Крутая Игра
A great horror game, doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares to terrify ya and the audio along the soundtrack is absolutely top notch. This game was made with true passion, you could put dozens of games and find most lacking when it comes to the love the devs have put into this game. If you love dark fantasy and slavic folklore alongside fun gameplay and horror you should 100% get this game.
La atmósfera es pentrante
dam it's dark
