Deep in the twilight of the Black Forest, you and your companions crouch before the robber-knight's tower. Hans, the alchemist, places his mysterious potion by the door. Ebhard the friar implores Saint Dunstan to bless your weapons and armor. And you and Gretchen grip naked long swords, praying your plate mail won't squeak.

It is a very old school (30 years old), but it is one of the most thorough and immersive games of all time. The amount of detail and true to the time situations are fun and amazing
Good throw back!
great old game!
Takes some getting used to, but after the poor state of the graphics / combat fade away it is an extremely cosy game!
;-)
Amazing game for a geek. RPG with simple yet nice rules. Though to play
Buying this game from Steam was only a convenience -- I still have the original install disks, rule book, hint book, and map. It has been on my computer(s) continuously since 1994 or so. The game was so far ahead of its time and so imaginative. Sure the graphics are dated and the sound is 8-bit, but the art is beautiful and the gameplay captivating. You can spend hours just creating characters. Oh, it also inspired a 30-year long effort to learn about medieval music and find performances of all the pieces used in the game.
Very unique RPG set in late-medieval Germany. The creator of the game (RIP) was a historian and it really shows in how well fleshed out the lore is. The alchemy and saints-system were a very cool alternative to the magic system you see in most RPG's. The game was very open in its world, and could be brutally hard if you didn't know what you where doing. Apparently Todd Howard was heavily inspired by Darklands.
2/10
Danke, Ende.
