The biggest praise first: Best game made with GG in its history, largely because this one almost NEVER feels like a GG game. Only when you come close to SOME obstacles and the horrible physic collision kicks in, you get the usual GURU vibe. That's it. I have designed, developed and produced games for the last 20 years, from my own trashy abominations to behemoth AAA productions, and I assure everyone reading this: The level design is top notch, absolutely pro level. Art design rocks, too, it's one coherent atmosphere created and maintained. Aside of the sometimes cheesy, sometimes overacted voice overs, this has excellent production values down to the smalles patch of grass. Excellent soundtrack, decent gunplay, astoninglishy smart opponents (and some stupid AI in between, but that happens), very good player guidance without railroading. All that comes from the creator, his imagination and efforts, is gold. All that sucks comes from the engine. Sad but true. Curious where this journey will lead us in the end, for now I can just applaude and bow my head in respect. Duke, du geile Sau, das fetzt.
In the 96 minutes I played this game I was able to nearly? complete the first 4 levels. I got stuck in a room in level 4. The game simply didn't entertain me enough in that time to make me want to reload from my save on level 3 in hopes i would play level 4 in "the correct way" and manage to get to the end. It is, by a mile, one of the better solo-developer single player FPS games steam. it is, in fact, already better than the developer's last game, any other GG game available on steam, and half of the games bigfryTV has reviewed... but not by nearly enough. As it is, the early access version has made improvements from the beta, which I tested, but even at its current state, which is the best it has been, this is not a game I would consider "worth buying" The problem doesn't come at the fault of the developer or their lack of skill or effort. It's clear that the amount of time, effort, and energy invested in this game FAR outclasses any other GameGuru game that has ever been made. The problem is, even at it's best, the GameGuru engine is not capable of producing an end product that (in today's gaming market) any normal gamer would be willing to pay for, or would feel like they had gotten their moneys worth. The game itself has no stand-out features which make the gameplay loop super interesting. At best it's kind-of fun, at worst, you're combing the levels for random objects or missing trigger zones causing you to get stuck at level transitions. This is BY FAR not the worst game ever, (especially for someone who has a softspot for early 2000s jank fps games) but it's not something that I would ever feel good having spent nearly 10$ on, when I could have bought STALKER: clear sky for about the same money. The developer loves to use gameguru, and i would never want to rob them of such joy, but when it comes to using a children's toy for commercial game development, one cannot expect to compete or be comparable in quality to other indie developer's offerings, even with all the "effort" in the world, and they are therefore setting themselves up to fail or be regarded negatively. You cannot sell the cupcakes from your easy-bake oven for the same price as the ones that are made at a bakery, even a small bakery. (at least not if you want to feel like you're turning any sort of reasonable profit). Furthermore, you cannot use "well i'm using an easy bake oven" as the response when someone asks why the cupcake is so small, cold, and tastes so odd, especially not if you're trying to prove that someone can sell an easy-bake cupcake that competes with other cupcakes. Is this a critique of gameguru? no. This is a critique of a skilled commercial game developer continuing to both rely on gameguru as a crutch, and use it to deflect all criticism related. I have no problem with someone making gameguru games, in fact, I look forward to playing them. I am disappointed that in this case, the first motive is clearly money. Were this game free, I would have compared it to other free games I had played, in which case it stacks up fantastically. It isn't though, it's 9$ which makes me compare it to games I've paid that much for, and when compared to chaser, e.y.e, and SIN episodes emergence, it's not playing in the same league. Plenty of other gameguru devs make games of a similar quality, completely free, but this one, who is using the same assets I can buy, wants me to pay nearly 10 bucks for theirs. It's almost a little insulting. Yes the core problem here is, even the best gameguru game ever made (which this DEFINITELY is) is simply not worth money today. as far as gameguru games go, this game is a 9.3/10 as far as real games go, a 2.3/10. I hope in one year when the final version comes out, I can change this review and say how wrong I was.

An excellent example; custom media, well thought out presentation and production values. I am going to play more of this game, and I look forward to seeing it evolve in Early Access! I am also a big fan of games like Fall Out so the Geiger counter noises got me smiling right away!
DK Productions has obviously put his heart and soul into this project. for an EA game, it is well polished with interesting graphics and ambience. The sound design is superb and the voice acting is solid. Without the splash screen you wouldnt know this was made in GameGuru and Dark Skies is a far cry from the asset flips people might be used to. You can tell that DK has put a lot of thought into the player experience and i cant wait to see how Dark Skies evolves
My new review: As the game is finished i did fully played the story, also have played most of the special and extra levels by time, its not game of the year but a great indie "stalker" game, you will run into issues but you will also run into greatness, its not too heavy to play and you have a lot of content. If you like indie games and stalker games, this is a great story to play. The story will go for at least 4 hours, but you can get 8 out if propably with special missions and all collectables (theres like 100 guns in this game lmao). My first old early access review: At the launch now, in early access you got 2 hours and 20 minutes of gameplay at minium. This game is good and you can see its a passion project, there is plenty of easter eggs, awesome atmosphere and even some replayability! i had really fun while trying to find all guns while playing the game! Its intense and gritty. Definetly has its own "feel" on it. Just remember, its early access and not finished. All levels are not done yet, but im waiting more as im hungry for more levels!
So I didn't play much, clearly. Not as much as I'd like before writing a review, that's for sure. However I also don't really need to because the one big issue that causes me to leave a negative review is one that seemingly can't be fixed due to limitations with the game engine used. Almost everything in this game is either good or okay, with the atmosphere being great. I've got three issues with this game: One, ladders are broken. You can climb them but you can't get off them and continue onto the platform you climbed to. That sucks, but it's hardly game breaking (at least not as of the second level). Two, the options presented are on par with those dirt cheap lewd puzzle games people throw together in a month. You get a FOV slider, music volume slider, and sound effects volume slider. That's it. The options shouldn't be that basic in a game you ask money for, but if that was the biggest problem I'd be okay with it. Three, the reason I'm leaving a negative review and will be asking for a refund, is the combat. It is terrible. The AI is absolutely braindead, you can shoot them repeatedly if you're outside their detection range and they won't react in any way. They just stand there until they eventually fall over dead. If you do get in their detection range they notice you and open fire, moving in this silly looking crouch walk until you either kill them or retreat far enough that they lose track of you. In the first combat encounter I had one spot me, shoot, crouch walk away from me, and as I backed up it just stopped, stood up and looked at me like nothing had happened. Maybe that was an isolated incident, but even when the AI seemed to be behaving as they should be it just didn't feel good. I watched bigfry's video on youtube about this game a while ago and thought "Hey, that has some real promise to it. I'll wishlist it and check it out later after some updates, once there's a big discount on." Kudos to the dev because they have improved it a lot since then based on what I had seen, and I feel a little bad about not liking this enough to stick with it but I just can't get past that awful combat. I know what I'm like, this is the kind of game I'll play for 5-6 hours at most, really trying to enjoy it but eventually I'll just reach a point where it's not worth continuing. I'm on a very limited entertainment budget so even though it was only $3 Canadian with tax included that's not something I can spare simply out of respect for the dev's effort. Edit: I forgot to mention it stresses my computer out like I'm playing Resident Evil Village. I do have a midrange PC rather than something fancy, but it should definitely have an easier time running this game than it does.
Welcome back to the zone: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2518242888 + atmosfear stalker-ish + soundtracks + environement backgrounds ost really well composed. + detailed world and runs well on my old laptop so far. + overal mechanics , gunfight feeling way much better than serious sam. - AI shoot threw fooliage, acting weird when trying to stab stealthy from behind insta 360 with poor animation. - not loading manual saved game as a restore point - no keybind remaping / sensivity for ironsight - no saving loadout at changelevel , got 3 nades at least only kept 1 at nextlevel trigger for instance,.. bought to support main dev and others contributors. hoping your roadmap will focus on those previously mentionned stuff.
Dark Skies: The Nemansk Incident
This is a STALKER inspired game being developed by a lone-wolf developer. It's made in the GameGuru engine, which although is not the best engine, it works to a certain extent for this game. People hate the GameGuru engine as how easy it is to produce games, especially when 90% of those games are scams. I say blame the developers, not the engine. This developer is trying to make the best out of it! It features nostalgic 2000's looking graphics and mechanics, which I personally really like. It has bugs and missing features, but we have to keep in mind that it's in Alpha for a reason. This game does not at all compare to other fake scam shooter games on Steam, it actually tries to be a pretty good game given enough development time. I feel like this game utilizes the early access tag correctly, and the developer seems to be pretty responsive to any form of compliment or criticism.
My Experience
When I first launched the game, I was presented with a pretty dull main menu screen. For some reason, the main menu does not have an options menu, for this you need to go in-game. Loading into the game, I was greeted with a pretty long loading screen, which I decided to look past and give the game itself a good playthrough. I spawned in a small military camp that acts like a mission lobby. You are able to use your unlocked guns in a shooting range inside the lobby. I had a major issue, there was no sensitivity slider at all. Whatever, I decided to look past this as well. I then proceeded onto the first mission. I have to say, the game gave me strong 2000's game vibes from games such as STALKER, Fallout 3 among others. I loved this. Although the enemies themselves were a little basic and weird, the gun play wasn't bad. I liked the atmosphere of the game very much, and the looting aspect (Although not a whole lot of loot variety) was nice. The maps are well designed and are pretty big, but it's pretty clear where you need to go. Exploration is okay, except that there isn't a whole lot to discover. The ambiance can play at weird volumes sometimes, although it very much fits the vibe of the game. Some things I also have to mention is that there's a lot of guns and ammunition, but not a whole lot of enemies. The game also throws a lot of guns at you very quickly, which I think is a mistake. Guns should be unlocked slower, maybe only one per level. One thing I think would also make the game a little more interesting is to limit it so the player can only have two guns. They'd have to think a little bit about what guns they want to hold and what ammo type to use. Scarcer ammo, scarcer guns, more enemies. Players would be put into more intense situations where they would have to make the best out of a bad situation. Real survival!
Conclusion
The gameplay is very promising, but the polish is nearly non-existent, this is a VERY raw game right now. If you decide to look past some of the problems, you might find it fun. I think the developer is trying hard to make this a good game when it leaves early access. Let's just hope that it's not left to die. This game DOES have potential. If a lot of needed polish is added, and the game actually keeps being developed, It might find success. Developer, if you are reading this, please add me on Steam and let's have a chat. I'm also a game developer, and I know how rough things can be. Thanks for reading!
This game has been created with the GameGuru Classic engine. The only issue is that it's filled with bugs. I can't say for sure how good this game is gameplay wise because I just couldn't get to play the game correctly. Key mapping is broken, loading times are horribly long, I spawned with no ammo, game crashes, ...
Much better than a lot of people claim it to be, in my oppinion. Good, by GameGuru standards great visuals. Rock solid voice acting. Interesting story. Atmospheric environments. Shooting and AI need improvement. The author cares a lot for his creation and this is reflected in the overall quality of the game. He also rolls out updates frequently. I highly recommend giving this a shot.
