Dark Passenger is an audio game which starts you off in a morbid scenario of having a panic attack as your character adjusts to the fact that their eyes have been recently removed from their body.

Terrible. You are faced with a black screen and try to navigate using environmental audio cues. A good idea that's been explored in 'A Blind Legend' as well. However, if you aren't given instructions on HOW to play the game, you're just left experimenting with different controls to see what works. My guess is only WASD works now and you don't actually have the ability to turn (the mouse doesn't do anything). Also, there's a character that is giving you instructions (possibly the antagonist), but he can't enunciate words properly, so it's likely you won't know what the heck he's asking you to do half the time. In fact, he tells you in the beginning "phat yo huys no longer woke" (that your eyes no longer work). It seems you have to actually walk into the sounds in order to progress.. using A and S keys to strafe into things sometimes.. Good god, that's just awful. Additionally, the game asks you to put your headphones on! Yet another lost opportunity to make use of a surround sound setup! I won't be bothering with this nonsense any longer.
NOT WORTH BUYING! The game concept itself lacks in so many points that you will find an absolute terrible game. This game is as fun as it read, you searching blind with ONLY you sense of hearing around, even if there where any ideas given, like a touch around a table so that you maybe could get any orientation, but nothing, you realy have only your ears and thats terrible. What makes the whole thing even worst, is it that you have to do the most time something like a quicktime events and if you fail, the whole scene starts again and you can listen to the whole crap again and again and again... besides its only luck to find what the game want from you, because there is absolute NO hints
Overall a neat idea and a pretty fun game, however I feel there could be more sound cues to help the player figure out where they are, rather than just bumping into walls (or enemies). There should be a button to skip dialogue in the beginning of a section, as hearing the same line over and over again can be annoying. I feel that some of the audio suddenly changes what direction it sounds like it's coming from, which is a bit confusing. For example, when trying to avoid some enemies, it sounded like they're on the right, and if I run into them, the death sounds like its coming from a different side? Maybe it's the headphones I'm using, though, I believe the game could benefit from more polished sound effects (and more varied ones.) Like perhaps there's a puddle on the ground and the footsteps make a different sound if you step in it. Or carpet, something, anything to really distinguish a room and make it not feel like an empty corridor. The beginning room seemed great in that aspect, as you could crash into things and sort of feel like you're actually interacting with the world. Another thing that would be nice would be if you die, say 10 or 20+ times in one level, give an option for a sound cue as a kind of hint of where to go. (or perhaps some dialgoue as to what exactly is going on) The ticking clock noise was helpful in figuring out the beginning locations, but later on I got confused and am currently stuck in a certain location, as it seems that wherever I go there's either walls or death. Will try to beat it again later. Also I kind of want to get more information about who made the game, who the voice actors are, etc. so if there's a credits section somewhere that would be neat. (Unless it's just at the end of the game which I have yet to reach.) A unique game with lots of potential. Worth at the very least trying out since it's so cheap, though I wouldn't be surprised if you get stuck later on in the game. It definitely takes time to adjust to which sounds are in which direction. (Could be my own fault for using earbuds but who knows.)
Found this game thanks to HarshlyCritical, pretty ok dude. (Don't watch his streams, his mods are whiny and ♥♥♥♥♥ a lot.) Anyways, the game has a good idea going, but ultimately you get mad when you bump in the wall 300 times then die and have to listen to the same cutscene over and over. I made it to the part when you need to get past 2 guards walking around and then I just kept going up in flames... so yeah. Try it out.
Terrible graphics, I couldn't get them to work at all. Got stuck on just a black screen.
Controls are just WASD. No ability to turn. Not what I thought I was getting myself into. Addendum: Apparently it's top down. Was expecting FPS-style. Definitely not what I was expecting. Further, the voice over was so grating that on my third/final startup attempt I took my headphones off until it was done.
Can't see **** in this one. Apparently sound only game where you have to navigate through the levels using sound cues. Hard pass.
So yeah... it’s a black screen. And some sound clues to tell you where the hell you are in the darkness. I guess you could call it a "blindness simulator" - if blind people navigate their surroundings by walking into walls repeatedly. But instead of actually giving you a chance to learn to live with your newfound disability, the game throws a bunch of enemies and puzzles at you and as you have no clue what’s where in the darkness, you will die. A lot. Really. A LOT. Actually a blind drunk tripping around in the middle of a busy highway intersection has a better chance of making it than you do. Or maybe I’m just terrible at being blind. Who knows? Is it innovative? It’s certainly innovative to get people to pay for a black screen and some really annoying voice acting. Usually we buy games to avoid staring at a black screen. Luckily it’s ludicrously cheap and a new (free) DLC lets you look at a map a few seconds before each challenge. The map looks like something you drew when you were five, so the black screen is almost a welcome relief after that. Is it any good? Well, at least its different in the "what the ♥♥♥♥?" kinda way. It's basically an interactive audiobook, so if that’s your fancy, look no further. I had a bit of fun with it. Not the kinda fun I’d have if I came home one night and found Scarlett Johansson in my bed. But still. Was worth the price (the game... not Scarlett). And hey... trading cards. Kewl!
nice game for blind gamers
