Oh dap dap!

Overall I would say this game is a bit of a hidden gem, and I'm always excited to recommend games by Aussie developers. The sound design and general atmosphere of the world is very engrossing and the gameplay does a good good of emulating some of the technical aspects of more popular 2D action games without being too frustrating. However, I was disappointed in the ending, because it hinges on collecting all of a certain non-essential item. The level design is oppressively dark, which complements the atmosphere and story, but doesn't incentivise exploration. This is definitely not a typical metroidvania style adventure game. At least on a first playthrough, the player is mostly focused on simply surviving and therefore will probably miss some of these critical items and achieve what I thought was a non-ending. This is more of a personal gripe and in general the game is well made and worth a try for those looking for atmospheric horror-action games

One of the best indie games I've ever played. Cannot recommend it enough.

Dap is a horror adventure game, where you play as a small creature called Dap and you have to save the forest where you and the other Daps live and fight against the corruption. The strong point of Dap is the visuals. It's unique, colorful and great for the atmosphere, it adds to the horror factor aswell. Speaking of which: Dap's horror is more based on the atmosphere although some parts have a few sudden scares due to the enemy ambushes, which was alright. The story is a hit or miss thing for each player, because there is not much going on, but if you see more into it, it could be interesting to follow or emotional even for some. Gameplay wise there are collectibles to find which the players can lookout for, and the game elements gets introduced progressively. It gets tactical later and reacting to sudden things as best as possible. However my biggest issue with Dap is the lack variety in the gameplay. There is challenge along the playthrough, but there is not enough different game element or gameplay in general until the end. Also, in few chapters I got lost and didn't know where to go. Even though the game is not that long, these things can make the experience less enjoyable. If you don't mind the limited gameplay and you are all in to explore an interesting world, give a try with Dap, otherwise you should skip it. I can recommend to get it, but buy it for 5€ or less.

Hidden gem, absurdly underappreciated. I've played many a horror game but few grip me and fill me with wonder like this one did.

Hidden gem. A fun adventure, very good aesthetic, the atmosphere is unique. Gameplay is a bit on the harder side, but very manageable.

Good game. Strikes up a really nice atmosphere and twists the same landscapes into highly distinct areas. Also surprisingly well balanced, i felt in danger the entire game even though i barely died.
