Dancing Pandas: Ranger's Path is a delightful, charming and cozy adventure game about the coming of age of a shy, timid panda called Mico. After receiving a mysterious letter from his grandmother, Mico's curiosity got the better of him and he sets off to the Summer Islands where she lives. Upon arrival, to his consternation, there is no sign of Grandma. So he timidly sets off to find her and encounters many quirky characters on the way. Mico traverses tropical beaches, a rainforest and mountain range bedecked in its autumnal glory. You discover that Grandma is the Master ranger of the islands and due to your resemblance to her, all pandas assume that you are a ranger too. So everyone has a need (quest) to fulfill and when you achieve that for them, you gain a heart of courage. With each new heart, Mico's confidence and strength grows and he becomes more willing to step out of his comfort zone. A feathered friend (Sofi bird) joins you and helps you find necessary items in the environment. Who can refuse an adorable panda waddling around? Have you ever seen a panda burnt like a lobster? There is some amusing dialogue which makes you laugh and then more serious tones as other suggest Grandma may be dead and other adult themes. There are quirky characters galore and some make you scratch your head!! Pandas are just as weird as humans! Graphics are lovely and colourful, music was subtle and enjoyable. The first part of the game was well done, but as you climb into the mountainous areas, I found that the movement of Mico got a bit janky. This caused frustration if you fell off a cliff and had to climb all the way back up again. There are several fast portals throughout the map which helped you to zip around quickly from one end of the island to the other. The world of Summer islands is much bigger than it originally appears. Once you find the pick and shovel, the game moves along more quickly. Finding the 2500 gems ended up a bit of a grind for me, but that was the exception. The game now auto saves on a regular basis and I was manual saving when I needed to. This is a lovely wholesome, peaceful and heart felt game to be enjoyed by all ages. And Mico shows his dance moves at the end! I had fun finding a high spot in the game and floating down to the land below with the help of my feathered friend. You don't die in this game! I loved this game as you see by my time. Highly recommend. 8.5/10

This is an Indie game with a capital I. Meaning that it has a lot of heart and character but is a bit rough around the edges. I've been having a good time on (the?) Summery Islands! Everything looks pleasant, with some lovely environments focusing on tropical Asian coasts, light rocky forests and nostalgic wooden cabins. Low-key upbeat music, though the closest thing to dancing for most of the game are the idle animations XD UPDATE: I didn't expect the map to be that large! And I found it delightfully well-designed, with many great views and some slightly hidden gems. I think for me that was the game's strongest point, just exploring the beautiful world. There's decent fast travel too, you just have to unlock it for each region and figure out that it's there. The wholesome concept of basically DIY exposure therapy for anxiety was a selling point for me. Obviously very simplified, but collecting courage and gaining hearts was a lovely idea that makes this game stand out a little among all the other "cozy exploration and questing" type of games. Content-wise, I don't know if all that NPC talk about [spoiler]money troubles, heart disease, neglectful parents, grandma being very old and possibly dying/dead[/spoiler]... would be the right thing for anxious kids?? They seemed to be one of the target groups to me, but perhaps not. Or on second (third?) thought, as a former anxious kid I'd find things to worry about all by myself without any prompting, so maybe it doesn't matter... I guess parents will have to make individual judgments here, and maybe tone it down a bit when reading for the younger ones. None of those dialogues are in-depth, and the overall atmosphere is definitely lighthearted. Very thankfully, there's no fishing minigame... You're supposed to gather scallops for a side quest, but you don't have to. I found one in a chest and its image looked like an empty shell, so I'm going to imagine the pandas eat the shells for extra calcium :D On the more technical side, there's only very basic platforming. I've been building a reputation for being absolutely useless at platforming, but I've only struggled a bit with the controls being funny. UPDATE: One side quest item is placed in a very difficult location unfortunately (I only tried once, it was too frustrating to fall down and have to walk all the way back). Speaking of "funny", I think my biggest annoyance has been the wonky camera in some places. Also characters awkwardly facing away from each other while talking, though I guess you could say that's thematically fitting lol -UPDATE for heads up: Unless there was something wrong on my end, THERE'S NO AUTOSAVE BEFORE QUITTING!! Which is honestly... bad. Make sure to use the manual save function. I'll try to investigate.- --- UPDATE2: No reply so far, but I confirmed from a different PC that the game did NOT save before quitting. They seem to be very busy working on patches, so hopefully this will be added. I also posted a list of other issues in the discussions. Dancing Pandas: Ranger’s Path is a whimsical journey that follows a young panda (Mico) as he gears up to be the new ranger of Summery Island. He begins his journey with self-doubt and a lack of courage. As he explores the island, he meets different residents and assists them by running errands, asking questions, and providing advice. He also performs tasks around the island such as picking up trash, making repairs, and being generally helpful. These activities build his confidence and courage, which opens new assignments and dialog paths. Your overall goal is to locate Mico’s grandmother who is nowhere to be found. Along the way, you will explore different regions of the island, meet cartographers creating maps, and bargain with a sketchy salesperson offering the latest in ranger fashion. To pay for maps and ranger-wear, you gather gems. Initially, you are handicapped by a lack of tools (axe, shovel, and pick). Once these are acquired, the collection of gems becomes much easier. The game auto-saves but I would recommend manually saving on a regular basis. There are multiple save slots so you can easily return to a prior point in time. Most achievements will be earned by exploring the island and running most errands. The acquisition of a full ranger outfit takes time due to the number of gems required. Finally, there is an achievement for collecting 2,500 gems which is a bit of a grind. The nice thing is that you can get all achievements in a single playthrough. Even after ‘finishing’ the game, you can continue to explore and pick up missing gems and purchases. I enjoyed spending time with Mico. The environment is bright and colorful, the music is light-spirited and pleasant, and the story is sweet. There are no voice-overs. None of the errands are difficult and the island has a variety of characters and locales. Finding gems is made a tad easier by a bird that joins Mico and can be used to locate valuables. My only complaint has to do with the camera angle. Very often, as you are traveling, landscape objects will interfere with your view. Suddenly, you are looking through grass or tree branches and lose sight of Mico completely. This is very inconvenient when you are on the edge of a cliff or attempting to reach a tricky destination. The 2025 release of Dancing Pandas: Rangers Path is a low-key, relaxing adventure that is fun for all ages. I recommend it to those seeking a wholesome and fun virtual vacation. Plus, you can never go wrong dancing with pandas! This game has stolen my attention like nobodies business! It’s a beautiful whimsical art style reminiscent of Palia but with the most beautiful storyline that really pushes you to confront your own inner barriers and see what it means to be brave, overcome your fears and have the courage to go above and beyond what you think you are capable of to help those around you. It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to continue this storyline and see where it takes me 🥹

I was looking for games to play with my daughter and this was a very pleasant surprise. It's quite peaceful and welcoming and can be played at a slow pace. She loves it!

As a fan of cosy nature games I was really excited to receive Dancing Pandas: Ranger's Path. The name is a bit of misnomer in that there's not much dancing involved! Instead you are a shy panda arriving at a beautiful lush island where you act as park ranger helping all the other pandas whilst trying to locate your grandma. I love how this game showed real character development with an adorably shy panda being challenged to step out of his comfort zone and gain courage hearts, a really wholesome story and message there. If you are thinking this sounds familiar then it is reminiscent of Haven Park, a game released in 2021 where you are a park ranger as a bird also on the hunt for your grandma but this has its own unique flavour especially as it has a differing ending which I am grateful for. The landscape is beautiful, very oriental with gorgeous animations and a stunning watercolour landscape that gives a dream-like feel to the game. This is amplified by the peaceful music and pleasant sounds of wind blowing and waves crashing against the surf that adds to the peaceful ambience. There are a lot of lovable characters with some sweet storylines and amusing dialogue which made me smile a lot. I felt the gameplay was quite forgiving, definitely handled better on an xbox pad and thankfully is controller compatible which improved my experience, I do think it would be nice to be able to button map yourself for PC players to preference. I got 5.3 hours of gameplay which allowed me to get all achievements but not quite finish the vault quest (I couldn't find the crank and got frustrated) and the goose egg quest which I could not be bothered trawling the entire island for. Had I paid for this I think if I'd have paid up to around £8 I'd have been happy. £10.99 is not too bad for this especially if you are a completionist but I think knocking off a couple of quid would have made this feel like better value given there's less than six hours of gameplay. My only qualm with this is it is a little fetch-quest heavy, whilst this didn't bother me for most of the game I did feel quite annoyed when reaching the red forest and having to go all the way back to windmills which was the entire opposite end of the map which felt obvious in trying to stretch out the game. The Sofi bird was a little unreliable and I'd have liked a hint system for quests (like the egg quest!) to prevent this from becoming too frustrating. Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed this - enough to add the first game in the series to my own wishlist and would wholeheartedly recommend. Definitely for cosy gamers who love visual novels, exploration and walking sims looking for something wholesome and low-key.

A pleasant wander around and collect things and complete quests experience. The music is relaxing, the scenery beautiful, the gameplay enjoyable and the ending is very nice. Nothing complex in this game it's just a nice time. Took about 7 hours to complete with 100% achievements, so look for a sale.

The game was a pleasant surprise. I've been following the development team's work for years, and I have to say, great job! I only now saw the game in its final form, and it's a pleasantly relaxed, feel-good, and stress-free adventure. A cute little adventure game with a very wholesome story. The map is very large if you like to explore, discover quests and collect items. The characters are cute and the storyline is easy to follow. A nice little cozy game.
