Damien Crawford's Golf Experience 2022

11/10 for realism. Much like the first time I played golf, I quit after being +25 strokes on hole two, triumphant in the fact that I had accomplished my goal of Having A Golf.

I played through my first round and managed a 218. Is that good? Is it awful? I have no clue, and that's half the fun. This game is stripped down golf where you can't do much in the way of aim except for what direction you are facing. You have three types of clubs (Wood, Iron, Putter), with Wood and Iron having a few internal choices, and each can hit the ball at three different strengths (Cautious, Moderation, Full Send It). You don't know how much your choices will influence the distance the ball will travel, which is also impacted to some degree by the terrain your ball is on. I am 100% Team Full Send It, as hitting the ball as hard as humanly possible and hoping for the best is the most chaotic and fun way to play imo. The only exception to this is putting, where most of the time cautious is the only way to get it in the hole. The game is fun, it knows exactly what it is, and it does the job well. You absolutely CAN complete a round if you're willing to whack in various directions until you figure out where the heck each hole is. Controls are simple and really only figuring out how to save was troublesome (Interact with the flag on a green, facing it, but not on top of the golf ball). Easy recommend especially for the price for a fun and oddly replayable experience. FOOOOOOORE!

This game truly made me feel like Wiger Toods. I tried, and failed miserably to sink that ball many times. After coming to terms with my inadequacy, I reached a state of anti-zen flow, where I took immense pleasure from just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about.

Gonna be honest, I feel like the trailer lies to you. There's no commentator in the game, unless you count that constant lawnmower noise.

Perfectly emulates the vibe of the first and only time I was dragged into playing golf: I felt confused, out of my depth, clumsy, and a little sweaty. I did manage to clear hole 1 in 15 shots (strokes?) which I think makes it my all-time best hole of golf. Wish me luck on round 2!

Actually crazy game. Impossible to make a putt. but it was fun.

I cleared the first hole in 9 strokes. The novelty of this game is worth $2. I think there's more to be explored in the idea, but the developer was probably correct to not invest any more time in a joke/art game than precisely was necessary. The message of the game is that golf is confusing and frustrating for the novice, to the point of surrealism. It delivers on that premise. At the time of writing, this game has two negative reviews: - One person said it was fun, but that putting is impossible, which is provably false. - The other person said the game "doesn't work" yet attached a 12 minute video of them successfully completing the first hole in 13 strokes.
