So, I was never really able to play this game properly, and the playerbase seems to have moved on and I was unable to find an online match, I have no friends to play this game with, and there's no CPU opponents or anything to fight, so honestly there's hardly anything for me to say in my review of this game, and in my review of NAIR, I mentioned that game didn't "feel" like a standard fighting game to me, but honestly DAIR seems to be more based on games like Super Smash Bros. than Street Fighter or something and it actually does kind of "feel" like a Smash Bros. game honestly, but, still, honestly, I would have a hard time saying to someone "You should play this game, bro", because, you know, no one plays it anymore and you can't get a match, and maybe if you have a bunch of buddies to play with, then, sure, it might be worth trying out, but assuming you don't or assuming all of them have better things to do than play some random game from years ago, then there's not even really any game left for you to play alone, so I guess I can't really say I would recommend it.
I would like to say, though, this game has an extremely detailed list of all the teeny tiny micro actions you can take and the effects of them and stuff, or this game has a light mode and a dark mode (I.e., mostly what it does is change the color of the background, but it's just a cosmetic thing, is the point) and depending on which you're using your character can appear in different colors for better contrast, and the game explicitly tells you what happens if you're playing in light mode and your opponent online is playing in dark mode or vice versa, and it explicitly mentions that they will see whatever color you see even if it doesn't match their own color settings, and I wish more games would do things like that and make things explicitly clear to players that they can't see for themselves or tell them about hidden invisible properties of the actions in the game and stuff, because, say, I love Skullgirls and everything, but man, I sure wish it had told me that Umbrella's standing heavy punch can reflect projectiles, because that's not mentioned in her tutorial, it's not something you would just assume, there's really no hint about it at all, but it's just silently there with no explanation waiting for the day you see someone else use it or stumble upon it by chance or whatever, and so I just appreciate when DAIR actually takes the time to tell me things about the game I might not have known otherwise.
Also, I feel I should say in case anyone is wondering, yes, NAIR and DAIR are meaningfully different games and not just the same game twice or an upgraded version of the other or anything, so if you were getting one, it would also be worth it to get the other.
