Reviews
A fun roguelite with Space Invaders inspired gameplay, a good variety of weapons and power-ups to try out, and particularly good boss fights. Actually, I think it works better as a boss rush experience, and to the game's credit, this mode is available from the start and merits a purchase in its own right. It's also a good way to earn permanent upgrades for the various tanks, which can be moved around from one to another, so that you're not locked into choosing one and focusing on building it up. My favorite one to use has a lot of firepower, but uniquely among the tanks on offer, this model can only shoot at enemies highlighted by a targeting cursor the player moves in two dimensions. Which changes up the gameplay quite a bit, in a satisfying way. If there's one knock against this game, it is the length of the standard and remix runs. Where ten waves of enemies per planet seems a bit excessive and extends the length of these runs to over an hour. Also, the additional upgrades earned (3 per planet versus 2 in boss rush mode) unbalance the boss fights and make them pushovers by the time the player, at last, cleans up the tenth wave and enters the ring with them. Definitely worth picking up. As a fun roguelite shooter with a good amount of replay value and offered at a budget price point even when not on sale.
