Absolute garbage. Uses “dice” as if it were a singular, in a game about dice. Nope.
it is actually amazing what people can do these days
I really enjoyed this game. It reminds me of a mix between Papers Please and Dicey Dungeons! The game has a good ui and is easy to pick up while also having depth. The different characters feel like they have their own identities while still interacting with mostly the same resources. Looking forward to playing more.
BANGER
Fun achievements, lots of gameplay, enthralling mechanics, you just suddenly play the games for an hour and have a lot of fun once a week, theres a few bugs, the game has bin abandoned, and it feels a bit short, but its still a great game
While it may seem simple, Cubic Currency is a very fun game with more layers than it initially seems. I'd love to see a mode featuring a longer run eventually added. Until then, $5 for this one is honestly still a steal.
Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase. Quick score: 4/5 Notes: Very interesting game. Not usually my style, but I found it enjoyable for a couple hours.
Solid game, it's the only game on the devs game list so if its their first very solid attempt. The short play time is a pro and con, you can do a playthrough in a half hour so you can just pick it up for a quick break and go on with your day. At the same time you don't really get invested in any playthrough. They were going for a good thing with the combinations of items and then game modifiers because they present advantages and challenges that can mix in interesting ways. For example my one playthrough I had an item that added a timer to customers, then a positive modifier that people paid with more dice than money, and the negative was bombs dropped destroying dice. So I had a ton of dice on the table, needing to move them all the time while the timer on customers ticked down. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of veriety in items. Enough that its interesting, but not enough that the combinations to keep playing to see more. Binding of Isaac for example has some 1000 items and many of them interact with each other making a repeat playthough extremely unlikely. In Cubic you'll get fairly similar playthroughs with interesting quirks. Additionally I'm not sure what they were going for with the characters, balance or challenge. The first character was fairly simple to play and beat with a little extra money. The second character felt completely OP busted, creating items and almost a dozen dice with a single ability. The final character had very lackluster abilities, being able to only average the value of dice and create two at a time with an ability. So I don't know if they wanted each character to be balanced or they intended for a busted character and the last to be a challenge. All that said, if you like a simple shop keep game, it was very satisfying for the math part of my brain, and a quick rouge-like experience I'd recommend it. It's a little gem that the devs clearly put a good deal of thought into.
It's not very expensive, but it was definitely a steal during the last sale. There's fun to be had here! The various mechanics keep things exciting, though sometimes stressful. It's not too hard to pick up and just play a run or two. Simple and clean. My only difficulty was that die not in your pool (IE acquired at random) don't have an accessible tooltip.
A deceptively simple but very addicting game.
