First run always decides the fate of these deckbuilder games in my library, and this game succeeded to claim the podium in many aspects. The mechanics are quickly become familiar, great art style, but most of all makes the player feel powerful from the first run. Here's hoping to encounter amazing and fun experience on next runs to come.
This one really grew on me. First run was a mess. Even though it was a win, whatever happened on the screen didn't make much sense. Abilities triggered, pawns moved, VFX flashed, numbers went up. Between fights I just clicked through all options, chose whichever was worded clearer, and started the next battle. Dust settled, I decided to open the Guide, and then the Codex, to get the idea of what I was doing. The descriptions, while definitely written in (or translated to) English, were anything but plain. They could certainly use a round of proofreading/rewriting. Guide read and reread, I headed to my second run. This time it was much easier. Likely it had to do with the fact that the second hero you unlock has a passive ANNIHILATE ALL SCREEN ability, which triggered upon receiving damage. By the third round I was confident I'd complete the game, at least until all achievements are done. Now, more than 10 wins in a row, I'd venture to say that Cubic Cosmos is on the easier side of most roguelike deck builders. It can be punishing if you don't choose the strategy early on, but really anything can work here. Just stick to a Keyword or a specific Minion type, and you'll be rolling over everything. At some point I just stopped reading what bosses' intents were and just enjoyed the blasting on the screen. Some of those intents can be annoying, but nothing run-ending. The synergies are fun, the card upgrade system feels great, the dolls are... whatever they are, they are not messing with my preferred style of play. Looking forward to more updates!
The odd phrasing of card abilities and modifiers (mobility, auto, death, kill, lasting, charge, etc.) takes some getting used to. Most card games have similar abilities but use different terms to describe them. But, once you understand what the terms mean and how they function in the larger gameplay loop, this game is fun. There's a certain amount of RNG in the game that can sway things greatly for or against you. Generally, by mid-run you'll have a good idea whether you should keep slogging through to the end or start again. Overall, sunk a lot of time into this game and am not disappointed. It's a great game to play when you just want some entertainment during a little down time.
Really fun cardgame roguelike. Quality and quantity with builds and options.

Veteran-roguelike player--This one is a keeper for veterans and chill players alike, and that's not because the demon lady is hot Not just because, at least. I find it absurd that this game is not more popular than it is. The content here is immense for the price it's asking. It takes a really unique approach to rougelikes that I highly rec.
