A masterpiece of the escape-room genre. Cube Escape: Paradox takes the point-and-click escape-room formula and gives it an incredible amount of depth. The puzzles, surreal atmosphere, interconnected story, hidden details, and bizarre world-building all fit together in a way that makes every discovery feel meaningful. But what completely blew my mind was the live-action short film integration. I’ve genuinely never encountered anything like this in an indie game. The way the film connects to the game and expands the mystery is brilliant, and the film itself is absurdly well produced. The cinematography, acting, direction, and production quality are easily good enough to meet professional film academy standards. It’s rare for a puzzle game to feel this ambitious. Paradox doesn’t just give you an escape room, but instead makes the escape room part of a much larger, surreal mystery. Rusty Lake absolutely nailed it. 10/10.
