I want to like this game but I do not enjoy it as much. The game rely on stealth-sim-hacking playstyle mostly and it can be enjoyable to find solutions to obstacles at hands, which is like 99% of the gameplay. However it does nothing for my immersive sim itch as the in game world isn't really immersive, it doesn't feel alive for me and I find the whole thematic setting uninteresting. I like it better when immersive sims world are alive and you are part of the living being in that world trying to survive. Ctrl Alt Ego is what I believe an old-school definition of immersive, you hack things, you stealth through the map, stack boxes and objects, crawl through the vent to puzzle out a solution which isn't what I look for at all in an immersive sims, nothing make me feel immerse.
Loved the creativity and personal touch that went into every detail of this game. The gameplay hook is truly innovative, and it made me feel like I was playing the original System Shock for the first time again. Finished my first run the other day and will definitely come back for the extra levels. Kudos to the dev.
I have played my share of immersive sims throughout the years. Bioshock, prey, dishonoured, deus ex, death loop, system shock (all completed on Max difficulties). You name it. I initially dropped this game as the game felt incredibly frustrating and confusing to play. I am giving this game a second chance. Once again, I do not get what the devs want me to do. It feels like stealth is the only way to play this game. Granted, I have a more aggressive play style which typically involves me attempting to stealth at the start, and inevitably starting a gunfight most of the time. I am playing on the 4th difficulty and quite frankly it seems impossible to play without stealthing the entire game, seems intended by the devs. All the dads have regenerating health and all you can do is hide from them. If this game has many options to solve encounters as many people suggest. Please someone enlighten me how can they kill every enemy at max difficulty without save scumming, thanks.
I suppose the game lives up to what you might expect from the trailers. I thought I would like it because it's supposed to be a masterclass of immersive sims, but it just doesn't feel fun at all to me, and lacks immersion. It's essentially just a puzzle game that sacrifices puzzle quality for emergent gameplay. I think it does what it's trying to do, so if that sounds good to you, great. You'll probably like the game. It just didn't resonate with me the way I thought it would.
Innovative immersive sim. A rare case where the Ego isn't the problem and the Bugs are a feature.
It's a fun game that's worth checking out but begins to overstay it's welcome a bit by the 8th chapter.
Hey, this isn't an immersive sim, that's just a puzzle game! And not a good one if I'm being honest, using EGO for everything causes softlocks way too often
