It's like FTL, except that FTL combat is fun. The ship combat in this game was just plain annoying to me.
Steeped in the same juices as the Dune and Foundations series, Crying Suns is drip-drying with elegance, replayability, and just a skosh of pizzaz. If you loved FTL, you'll love Crying Suns even more.
Hey ... who gave this game mixed reviews? That's nonsense, this game is astonishing. It's like FTL, in a way, if FTL had more of a story. If you don't love it, you're doing it wrong :p =)

The game itseft is decent, but i found it far too repetitive. Most events are reused constantly, and even though the different ships provide some variety, the overall gameplay loop remains very similar. 100% Completion Time : 117.9H Completion Difficulty : 8/10 Playthroughs : 16 + additional run for specific achievement Missables : None DLC Required : Yes Guide Recommended : Yes - strongly Notable requirements : Complete the game with all ships on highest difficulty, including DLC ships, and complete numerous spcific challenges and event-related achievements.
There is a bug that can occur with your hangers. A unit can get stuck in the hanger effectively reducing your squadron count. This happened to me at the end of a run during the boss fight. All the prep I had done for about the last 2-3hrs was set back by this bug and lead to my loss. I am pretty pissed off and cannot recommend the game after this bug wasted my time.
Excellent game, very worth your time
I've enjoyed the first couple of chapters of Crying Suns. I like the setting, the combat is surprisingly deep and fun to work out, and the writing is decent. Because of that I have to give it a positive review. The caveat for anyone interested is that, very quickly, you'll be seeing all the same story events happen again and again, clicking through a lot of dialogue just to see if you won the dice roll or not. Without the added flavour of the story and writing, it becomes very mechanical. That'd be okay if the mechanics were more interesting, but outside of combat there's just not that much going on. It's the usual roulette of seeing how lucky you get with the amount of scrap you get and the weapons, squadrons and crew members you get access to. This is a classic problem in roguelikes in general, but at a certain point in the difficulty curve, your success or failure is going to be largely determined by how lucky you get with your build. If you didn't get your hands on good enough squadrons or weapons, you're going to run into situations that are just unwinnable. For me, that's where my interest drops right off, so I'm not sure I'll have the patience to see it all the way through, as trying again each time just isn't varied or exciting enough to keep trying. But if you've got a higher tolerance than me for repetition, and more of a stomach for unwinnable runs, you'll likely get on with Crying Suns just fine.
好游快爆上看到这个游戏,移动端玩的不方便,来steam玩,果然没让我失望
Great game with interesting choices and rewarding meta progression. A great story to boot. Highly recommend if you are a fan of the genre.
Amazing story with a good-enough gameplay loop.
