In Short: Interesting game with multiple endings and achievements. Playing the first, Crimson Light, helps, but is not necessary. More than worth the price.
https://youtu.be/FuximLPl7HQ https://youtu.be/ANbMmAPrQ_0 Crimson Shift is the sequel to Crimson Light, although Crimson Light came out after this one did (at least one steam). You play the character Naokee as she tries to remember who she was, how she can escape her assassin lifestyle, and just who the mysterious person in red who chases after her is. What a mouthful. Anway, the game plays very nicely, with minimal errors (there is a nasty crash error that can happen during some boss fights, so save often!) and a very interesting combat system. In fact, it is one of the more unique I’ve seen for RPG Maker, and flows very nicely. Now if only I could understand what I was doing half the time ;P I really liked the guard system, but to get the most out of it, you need to watch for ‘Boss Tells’ otherwise you may waste it on smaller damage, or worse, use it at the wrong time and negate it for when you DO need it the most. The story can get a little confusing at times, especially if you haven't played Crimson Light, but thankfully it tends to explain itself shortly after. I can’t really get TOO much into it (spoilers) but suffice to say things really turn around and come out towards the end. What is also very nice is that after you beat the game, it gives you the option of starting a new game with all your existing equipment. You start at level 1, but it gives you a good edge over enemies, making playing all over again for the other endings less of a chore. +Custom Art for both the busts and battles +Interesting and unique battle system +Has a New Game+ mode +Multiple Endings +Minimap system with Quest Markers +Achievements (For those who care) +Illustrated ‘cutscenes’ =Combat can be confusing if you don’t pay attention =Minimap can only be used outside =Has a save reminder system, but it disappears about halfway through the game =Game’s story doesn’t require you to have played Crimson Light, but it helps a lot. -One boss has a one hit kill ability (I have heard this may be adjusted) that you have to be very careful to avoid -Random crashes during battles (rare, but it can happen. Save often!)

Fazit
Ein sehr Gutes RPG mit einem Einzigartigem Kampfsystem, Guter Story & Toller Musik. This game is definitely worth the price. You get a game with multiple endings. The story is well written, I actually cared about the characters, the combat is interesting, the music used in the game was well chosen. There's no proper controller support would be my only gripe, but you can use one, it's just the buttons are mapped wierd and may take some time to get used to. If your worried about getting just another crap RPG Maker game, this is not one of those. There's a prequel to this game as well that's free that is worth playing as well since it introduces a lot of lore.

This game manages to keep its grip on me the whole time through. I almost instantly connected with all of the characters and they all are written in a way that they're each unique individuals and they have their own personalities. I also felt something extra for some of them because I played another game called Crimson Light that tells a story that's tied to this game. The story was really interesting and engaging. The city has it's own feeling and it works nicely with how the story revolves. The people of the city felt like they belonged there and weren't just random npcs that are there just so it wouldn't feel empty. There are some choices in the game that really feel like you're making a difference in how the main character reacts to everything. The choices are pointed out to the player in a way that it really matters what you chose. The battle mechanics are done very well, I usually don't like the basic fighting system in rpg maker games but in this one it's more active, with all the combos and buffs and everything. It feels very refreshing and kind of something I haven't seen before. It was challenging at points but not too much, and most definitely never got boring. I felt that the balancing was perfect, and the way to get exp from sources other than the fights alone is good because some players tend to avoid fighting. The minigames were really fun and simple and didn't feel forced or too much at all. They were placed in fitting places and worked together with all things related to them. Oh and I danced for like 30mins straight, got all the rewards. The mapping was great, didn't see anything that would feel out of place. There was only a couple maps that may have felt a little empty but in total it was really well crafted. All the places I explored were accessible and felt natural. There were only some minor bugs with the game, nothing too serious. Mostly just errors in grammar and I have pointed out everything I found to the dev. All in all, Crimson Shift is one of the better rpg maker games I've played and it definitely deserves more attention. Go ahead and buy it and play it, it is more than worth it for it's price. I took me just under 8 hours to finish the game. Great job indeed! Looking forward to more from the dev! :)
This looks good to me. I only played a little but want to play more. I really like the clicking sounds in the text and feel of this game so far. Style is great and the combat is really fun. Will edit later
I played that game as a Beta tester and let me tell ya : It's Very good. I reccommend playing Crimson Light first for the Full experiance (TEAM UNE) This game is a RPG with some sort of Active battle system. The battle system is not really the main focus of the game so i'll mention it brifly, It's good but a bit hard to understand. As for the rest, the game is very atmospheric and mysterious. Many of the characters are intresting and the story is very enjoyable. The dev really put alot of effort in this title and you can see it. "10/10 Would love Une* > Throws money at the screen WHY ISN'T THE SEQUEL COMING OUT ?!
RPG Maker strikes again! Crimson Shift is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This is a fairly generic RPG Maker asset flip copy + paste job with some godawful writing filling out the RPG Maker templates, some story about being an assassin... it's the sequel to an equally awful RPG Maker asset flip from the same "developer". Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. That's right, only 2. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason. The game is currently free, but the developers were charging money for it. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration, but this is also in some ways an acknowledgement that the game failed to achieve any commercial success (unsurprising due to the quality issues). It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. The quality here is simply too low for me to recommend, even for free.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
In an attempt to discredit the facts and validity of my review the developer seems to think that the game must be played for several hours before determining any objective facts about it. Apparently, before deciding a carton of rancid milk has gone sour, the developer thinks we must drink the whole carton before we're allowed to tell anyone the milk has gone off. What rubbish. Playing a bad game for longer will not make the graphics better, cause the code to change, controls to become better, or fix any bugs or other defects in it. So why insist the game needs to be played longer? This is simply psychological denial on the part of the developer. If they can attack the review, they can pretend their game doesn't suffer from the defects this review highlights. This is outright delusion, unfortunately. It does not take very long for the defects in this game to become apparent. Playing the game for longer will not change them. The developer demands that their game is not an "asset flip", that it does not contain any third party game assets including the game engine, but is 100% created by the developer without using any premade or third party generator assets. Which is a peculiar position to take because the game obviously features the RPG Maker (copyright Kouri 1992) game engine created by Kouri, and stock tileset assets and character assets provided with the RPG Game Maker construction kit (still copyright Kouri 1992). These assets are not the intellectual property of Nandee. These assets are the intellectual property of Kouri. The absolute smoking gun, of course, is that the developer failed to credit any of the providers of the game assets they've used, pretending instead that they are their own creation. Why would the developer lie about this? Ignorance? Malicious intent to mislead gamers? Guilty conscience? What makes an asset flip? There's no strict legal definition, but most gamers will agree that it's improper use of someone else's game assets and game development technologies for profit. That can include the following:

Taking someone else's tutorial/game demo/starter pack, maybe making a couple of minor changes and trying to sell it for money
Filling out a few things in a toy construction set, intended for making little demos and toy games to pass around with friends, and trying to sell it for money
Taking stock assets and, whether the license for the use of those assets permits it or not, not crediting the actual developer, and trying instead to pass off the work as if it was the "developers" own
Taking stock assets and assembling them in an incredibly lazy way, making a Digital Homicide style "minimum viable product" and trying to sell it for money
Using character generator "art" and other asset creator tools in a lazy way to make "filler" assets, including those in a badly made game and trying to sell it for money
Now we can see the would-be "developer" (more accurately described as an RPG Maker Template Filler... using a crap construction kit and taking other people's assets and pretending you made them does not make someone into a real game developer) is absolutely guilty of some of these behaviours. When a badly made game contains this kind of asset misuse, which is absolutely harmful to gamers due to the pollution problem it inflicts on Steam, it's absolutely appropriate to call this out and advise gamers what's going on. The developer chooses to attack me instead of accepting the truth and the facts that support my review. The developer claims I use the term asset flip a lot, because presumably the developer has started stalking me and obsessively combing through my reviews hoping to find some way to mentally avoid facing the fact that Crimson Shift was a complete and utter failure. The reason I use the term "asset flip" so frequently is because I review the trash games (so many of them full of asset misuse) that most gamers don't (like, you know, Crimson Shift). That means I encounter these unethical and amoral behaviours more than other gamers do. Most gamers don't buy these games, play them, or review them. My position is that it's far worse for a game to be "nothinged" by gamers than it is for it at least to get some attention. The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, after all. So the developer has brought more attention to why this trash shovelware RPG Maker asset flip is pollution, and reinforces the facts I supplied in my review.
