To see your crime novels coming to life would be any novelist's nightmare. In the third installment of the Criminal Archives series, a young novelist named Damian Crow seeks to find a connection between the recent murders, which looked exactly like how Damian had written in his novels. Together and with Melenda's support from the police, you went to investigate the murders and discover a huge twist. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3420261799 Since this is one of their recent games, they've introduced the stars system, where your choices will determine which ending you'll get for each chapter. I've mentioned in the 4th game that the 6th star option doesn't work for me. I discovered from the forums that you need to purchase the DLC or Delux edition in order to access those options, which will open extra areas for the story and give you more information about it. The achievements are not included in the DLCs. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3421050381 The soundtracks were phenomenal and fit the mysterious atmosphere of the story. The character's styles and personalities are intriguing. However, I was confused when I saw one of the characters who appeared in the first game. I'm not sure if they intended that, if she is the same person, or if they just used her character model. I found myself screenshotting most of the areas; the background details and the color palette are beautiful. Some of the areas are familiar, as we've previously visited them in the other games. This connects the lore of the game, and I highly recommend playing them in chronological order as they mention previous names and locations. The gameplay is a mixture of Hidden object scenes and many original puzzles. I enjoyed each one of them. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3420261521 As usual, we get three collectibles. This time, they consist of signed photos from the writer Damian Crow, which you can furnish the boudoir with. The second collectibles are types of feathers which are used to write with. And the last collectibles were novels I assume Damian wrote with such unique titles. I found those collectibles are very creatively made. Pros: +Beautiful visuals and location design. +Good music. +Well drawn hidden objects scenes. (36 in total; you visit each scene twice, the previously picked items are not recycled) +Beautiful and useful journal keeps track of the story. +Good voice-overs. +Variety of original puzzles. (30 in total, some of them are difficult) +Stars system, which will determine the outcome of each chapter (A total of three outcomes of each chapter and a bonus chapter, 12 in total) +Collectables (3 types) +Bonus chapter +In-game strategy guide. +Steam achievements. Cons: -You need to purchase a DLC or Delux edition to unlock more areas and choices [6 stars choice] to get extra information for the story. This is required in order to get the true ending but doesn't affect the achievements. Once again, the bonus chapter is an extra story that gives more information about the characters. I enjoyed it and highly recommend the whole series. My wife and I have played hundreds of HOG games. This is the worst game we've ever played! The pictures are very fuzzy and out of focus. The map is very strange and non-standard in how it works. It took us a couple of hours of play to realize that there was a button to change pages on the map. Some of the puzzles are extremely hard...and we're really good a puzzles! The items and their use just didn't make sense most of the time. And to top it off, some of the "find the object" games are outright broken: the object doesn't show up until you click the space where it belongs (which you MUST find by using a hint.) We NEVER quit a game without finishing it. Until now. But this game was so frustrating that, even set on casual mode, and using the hint continuously, we finally gave up. I would not play this game if they paid me to.
And again it has a bug, that probably will never be fixed.
The game is broken and considering how long its been out and this seems to have been a long term problem it will never be fixed, please skip this one. The best dialog options to get the most content and points are locked and there appears to be no way to open them. Don't waste your time. Edit: Found out these options are locked behind PAYING MORE MONEY. Yeah I double down on DO NOT waste your money on this game.
Decent game definitely really long and lots to do. Only real complaint is Literally EVERY hotspot and object is very tiny! It makes no sense why they would make the objects that small. Like they h8 the visually impaired. My vision is fine thank God, but it's still extremely difficult. Otherwise very good game. I especially like that it's not all supernatural nonsense, but rather good detective game with real people and lots of characters. Bravo!
I enjoyed the storyline, wasn´t sure if Damian Crow was involved in it or not. Also liked the storyline of the extended part. The art is lovely with nice colours and details and it was a lot of fun playing. I skipped some of the mini games though, because some of them were not my cup of tea. But they have range of different kind of minigames, so I enjoyed the game.
bien
