I am absolutely unable to beat the very first level on medium difficulty. I am a grown adult who has finished every Tony Hawk game (even the bad ones) but after 6 attempts and watching a tutorial on youtube I still can only get 4th place! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2520486517 This video shows another grown adult being absolutely destroyed on the first 3 levels https://youtu.be/2GaMFbe5Jto I have beaten Dark Souls I have beaten Battletoads on Wii I have beaten chlamydia -Crayola Scoot has beaten me
Crayola Scoot is a true hidden gem. The game is equal parts Splatoon and Skate/Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, with a splash of Jet Set Radio thrown in for good measure. Scoot is packed with modes/content and is a blast to play; it's also quite a challenge on the higher difficulties! I only wish it had even more content and featured not only split screen but also online multiplayer. It's an incredible shame that this game has now been delisted off of the Steam store, presumably due to its Crayola license expiring. The crayon brand's license adds nothing to the game, and more people deserve to try this cult classic. If this game sounds intriguing to you, add me on Steam and send me a message for a complementary Steam key.
EDIT: Crayola Scoot will be removed from Steam on December 30, 2022. Fun little game I've only just begun. Played the first event on hard mode a few times and I'm starting to get it, had 1st place swiped from me with 1 second to go. Simple but with enough complexity to the trick options for me to enjoy. Colorful and marketed towards kids but with few arcadey/Tony hawk esque skating (or scooting) options on Steam it was worth the pickup. 90% off and delisted tomorrow, it's been fun for me thus far and if you think you'd enjoy this game, pick it up now or never.
Got this for $1 from the Outright Games Humble Bundle, was interested in it since it's the closest PC has to Splatoon (well, aside from emulating Splatoon, of course). Didn't expect much from it, but to my surprise, it's actually pretty decent. The controls are fairly well thought out and have a lot of layers to them, tricks and combos and whatnot. Easy to learn, hard to master. I wouldn't say the paint mechanics work nearly as well as Splatoon, but they worked better than expected. I don't know if it's worth $20, but it's definitely worth the $1 I paid for it. However, one thing to note is that there's no online play whatsoever, although there is splitscreen and supports Remote Play Together. It's a damn shame too, I feel that this could've easily gained a cult competitive following if it had online. I get it's a throwaway kids game, but still disappointing. BTW, this game also does work on Steam Deck. The opening logos don't render at all, which could make some think that the game itself doesn't work, but it's fully playable at 60fps. Kills battery life though, at least as far as I can tell. I didn't check graphics settings, if it has any. 3.5/5
8/10 Splatoon + One of those old skateboarding games + local co-op of up to 4 - cant play with keyboard
Not recommend.
Crayola Scoot was a console (Xbone, Switch) ported Crayola branded/licensed scooter action game where you ride a scooter and squirt out paint every time you jump. Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense but it was hamfistedly aimed at children, for unknown reasons. To sell crayons? I have no idea. Whatever, it failed and the developer removed the game from Steam (probably because Crayola saw the console peasant mess the developer came up with and revoked their license). From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There was no way to ensure this was running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game would have looked right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game featured lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looked bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. In a sheer insult to PC gamers, the developer had locked out keyboard and mouse controls on this game. The developer demanded, without compromise, that you must use a console peasant children's toy gamepad to play this garbage game. This is simply unacceptable, developers must never dictate to gamers how a game is to be consumed. Because this was designed for consoles, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game was deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game was reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 12 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Given the game is removed, this will never improve. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Thankfully this is now gone from Steam, but if you do get the opportunity to get a key for the game, don't. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, this is impossible to recommend.
