With its extensive Tour of Duty campaign, a near-limitless number of skirmish modes, updates and new content for Counter-Strike's award-winning multiplayer game play, plus over 12 bonus single player missions, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero is a tremendous offering of single and multiplayer content.

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero is a strange package that includes two very different components under a single Steam store page. Condition Zero & Tour of Duty The core multiplayer experience offers barely any difference from Counter-Strike 1.6. It is essentially a reskin featuring similar maps and identical weapons, with graphics that were incredibly outdated even for a 2004 release. The single-player Tour of Duty campaign is not very interesting either. It basically reuses the multiplayer maps and populates them with bots. You are restricted to playing as the Counter-Terrorist team while attempting to complete increasingly difficult objectives, such as killing two enemies with a knife or eliminating a flashbanged opponent. This structure quickly becomes very frustrating, largely because your AI teammates have absolutely no sense of self-preservation. Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes This separate campaign is arguably a more interesting experience than Tour of Duty simply because it attempts to offer a fully story-driven single-player mode. However, the overall execution leaves a lot to be desired, making the whole package feel much more like an amateur mod rather than a full game. The narrative and voice acting are disastrous. You are subjected to a B-movie script and voice actors using terrible fake accents that border on comical. The campaign itself is extremely linear, though it does at least take you across a genuinely good variety of global locations. Combat feels bizarre in this context. The weapons retain the exact feel and mechanics of Counter-Strike 1.6, which is incredibly strange and out of place in a scripted single-player environment. Furthermore, your progression is often halted by annoying bugs and frustratingly clunky puzzles. For instance, basic props like crates are inexplicably hard to move and can completely block your path forward. Visually, the game was severely limited by the ageing GoldSrc engine, looking way below the standards of other titles released in the same era. I would only recommend playing this if you are very interested in the history of the Counter-Strike franchise. Note: - The game will run flawlessly at a locked 100 FPS on absolutely any PC today.
