Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel

Cosmic Osmo is a fun little exploration game with no goal which is okay. You kinda just walk around some strange worlds until you've seen everything. There is little mini games and interactable objects littered around which were neat.The game has a unique atmosphere I haven't seen in modern games, the black and white colouring really adds to this. At points I even found this game to be unnerving, do to the surreal structures and lack of music in most areas. SPOOKY! The game does need to be fiddled with to have it in full screen on Windows 10 but it was an easy fix. I also noticed that the game saves inputs so only click on stuff once lest you be stuck watching the same animation over and over.

My brother recommended this game to me for my daughter (as a gamer myself, she was always drawn to my computer and games). Even though it was an older style game and definitely looked it, she really enjoyed playing this game, and I enjoyed watching her play it. She did gravitate towards the same specific areas in the game, but she spend a few hours playing and always enjoyed her time with it.

A cute, quirky, and charming game. Has some display and control issues, but they are understandable after so many years. Probably not worth as much as it is, so get this on sale.

Wow! Played for the first time in 2025, loved every second of it. I don't know what it was like to code games in 1989, but these guys are all star musicians and visionary dreamers. So many funny scenes and great implementation. Super fun, wish I got the chance to play as a child, but will definitely be showing to kids if opportunity arises!

It's a goofy bit of fin but the scenes sometimes get stuck and cause you to have to quit the game and restart. More satisfying than the Manhole, but I only suggest if if you feel the need to see Cyan's older works. Not worth it by today's standards.

For being essentially a children's software toy, I enjoy this a lot. It's packed to the gills with bells and whistles and will take a while to discover everything (I've played more than an hour of this, but offline where my time wasn't counted). I found this goofy world quite appealing and it's held my interest in a way that the other early Cyan titles weren't really able to. Clearly the crown jewel of Cyan's children's offerings. With that being said, it ultimately is a children's software toy, and you can see for yourself what it looks like. If you don't think you'd enjoy it because of those things, you are probably right. It's not for everybody. But if this sort of thing might be interesting to you... this is very good for the type of product it is.

Definitely more engaging than Spelunx. Massive world to explore. Could spend a few hours in this.
