i found this game after finish few games by the bearded laddies. the control is the same as miasma BUT the map is keep on reusing same location with same enemy.... can be quite dull vs miasma where it keep on changing feel its just a sandbox instead of full game... i still enjoy it tho
Played 3 hours so far. Really enjoying it. Feels like X-COM meets Metal Gear Solid, due to the stealth element.
It is not as bad as most people commenting say. It is not Mutant Year Zero or MIASMA Chronicles but still a good tactical shooter and it is worth the money it goes for. It might not reach the expectations of some, but still it has value. The combat in general, destruction, effects and graphics in summary are good. You can definitely have some fun with this one until Zero Company drops :)
Easily the weakest of The Bearded Ladies trilogy of turn based stealth RPGs. This game released after their best game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, but despite that it didn't improve on the original formula much, instead it actually regressed. Their games boil down to a simple, yet engaging gameplay loop of stealthing through a level to get the lay of the land to identify enemies and terrain, picking off enemies one by one, then engaging the remaining force in turn based combat. Enemies will completely overwhelm you if you avoid the stealth aspect of the game and just try to brute force it. Some other reviews rightly point out that this formula can get a bit stale, fortunately the run time of the game does stay relatively short. Unfortunately, whereas Mutant Year Zero, and Miasma Chronicles (the 3rd game the devs made) have more interesting worlds, engaging characters and stories, and more expansive levels that encourage exploration, Corruption does not. Your team is comprised of faceless cyborgs that play completely identically. Contrast this to the interesting mutants, each with unique skill trees, that you come across in the post apocalypse in MYZ and the difference is night and day. Unfortunately, you would hope that by completely ignoring crafting an engaging story and setting the devs focused more on improving the combat and RPG elements, but in this area to the game is woefully lacking too. The unique abilites/skilltrees from the other games is completely missing, instead replaced by an unengaging active/passive perk system you select at the start of each level. Some of the perks I've found in my few hours include "Do more damage from high ground, get 2 extra armor points, and destroy enemy armor". Pretty weak offerings compared to some of the cooler abilites from their other games- like force lightning and sprouting demonic bat wings to get a high ground shot on enemies behind cover. Not to belabor the point, though there is definitely more I could write if note for the steam review word limits, but if you are even remotely interested in this, go buy Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. If you have already beat that and you really enjoyed the gameplay loop go play Miasma Chronicles. Its still a weaker entry than MYZ but infinitely better than this game. It is important to note here that this game released 2 years after MYZ. A very short development cycle, which is ultimately reflected on the final product. If you buy, do so only during a deep sale.
Lacking the personality of the other two TBL games but thoroughly enjoyable just the same.
If theres double thumbs up i'll give this game that, but it seems its their another great game with short playtime hours again.. duh! Soooo Just one thumb up it is.
Miasma Chronicles. The game is very mediocre, I bought it to support the developers because of Miasma Chronicles.
Fun turn based tactical game
Corruption 2029
I really want to like this game. I really do. I'm glad it was on sale cheap. I'll give it a thumbs up, because it isn't a bad game just not something I like. The graphics and sound track are great. Much better than a lot of the top rated games. The control system is...different. You have an isometric view, but the angle is very low which adds to the suspense and challenge of the game. Takes some getting used to unlike something like JA3. The story line...I couldn't get into the game enough to learn the story in depth. It does have a good start. The balance doesn't seem to be there even on the easy setting I used after twice trying the normal setting. The enemy weapon range seems to be much longer than yours. They can shoot you, but you can't shoot them. I wanted to switch to turn-based (ambush), but the game only lets you switch when the game wants you to. A single shot, silenced weapon is only good for the trash bin unless it is a one-shot kill otherwise, you are faced with reloading-move, move-reload or reload-shoot; Can't move and shoot. Over all, 5 out of 10 as much as I want to give it a higher rating.
