If you liked Bloons tower defense, imagine taking that and putting all the monkeys in super futuristic robot-steroids This game is growing and the Developers are constantly making sure that the game is balanced Only downside to the game would be a lack of players, and even then the game is still growing fast so that won't be a problem for another month or so

TL;DR - An unique tower defense game with a measure of competitive structure and interesting twists. Definitely worth a download. Highly addictive tower defense with deep strategy. A unique feature is that you and your opponent take turns banning certain towers and abilities, then choosing the towers you wish to use. This makes for some very interesting gameplay decisions. This can mean that your perfected combination of towers and creeps are unavailable, or possibly that you have removed a certain tower or creep that really messes with your loadout. It also gives you an opportunity to adjust your towers, creeps, and abilities based on what your opponent is selecting. The gameplay itself is very enjoyable, and I found myself playing for a number of hours straight without noticing how much time was going by. You start the game by placing wall tiles, on which you can build your towers (which are upgradeable). You can select up to five items (mixed towers and/or creeps), and that is all you get to use. In other words, you can only build one tower of each type, though you can send in numerous creeps (which are also upgradeable). I was skeptical of this mechanic at first, but it works out really well in favor for some clever strategy. You have the ability to move your towers during the match. This means you can place your walls in strategic positions to maneuver your towers to defend key points or even push them forward for an attack. Also, because you can place the walls where you please, you can build a track that allows you to easily pick off your opponents creeps, or even to push rapidly into his "base" area with your towers. The mechanics of the game are very satisfying, and it feels well-balanced. A ranked system is in place for head-to-head matches against players or bots. I chose to go against the bots and was not disappointed. The bot difficulty continues to go up as you get better at the game, which is a nice touch. I will try out the match-making system and go against some players in the future. Another aspect of the game worth mentioning is that you have unlockable towers, creeps, and abilities. You earn currency by playing games well and getting achievements. After collecting sufficient loot, you can aquire said items. It is worth noting that you can use real money in this game, but only for cosmetics. In other words, it is NOT pay-to-win. All-in-all, this is a nice, decently polished game that is definitely worth downloading and trying out. If you enjoy strategy and TD game in general, you will likely enjoy this game.
Freaking awesome game for linux. Reminds me a lot of Stronghold TD on war3, and it's free !
Game feels clunky and heavy. Its show it runs at 60fps in my screen but feels 10fps. Game tooo too slowwww. Gosh! First game took me 20minutes! If it was optimized it would take only 4 or 5minutes. If it was a paid game I would feel terrible. Wow, so dissapointing...
As you can already tell I recommend this game but this review isn't to tell you about the things I've enjoyed but mostly to point out some things that I hope to see fixed in the future. First off the absolute most important thing to address is, the game lenght and fish AI. I'll admit I've only played 3 bot game but thats mainly because of how long the games we're, not in an intense long game but as a looooooooong game that barely gets anywhere, maybe I just sucks but regardless I'll still write about it since the two first game won took about 40mins each. And why is that? Well for starter tower defence works with building walls to put towers on top of them, the problem isn't the fact that walls/towers can actually straight blow up, the problem is mostly how quickly you can just place a wall back, meaning that all the work towards making a path would be nulified within a flash. And what about fish AI ? That's just my way of saying that the AI is hyper basic for as far as I can tell and follows simple guidelines which can lead to some questionable defensive action like, putting it's tower outside the lane just to attack a random wall that as no tactical advantage to be there or to be destroyed meaning that the bot only ends up using one tower and it's minions and sometimes it'll just randomly use one of the three abilities it has without real actual thinking behind it. But all that is probably just because I'm just at the fourth bot battle, hopefully later on the bots have more spring in their virtual steps. But that's not the only thing I'm concerned about, I've got a crappy laptop and surprisingly enough, this game runs like garbage when opening the unlock menu, I don't know why it would it's not like there was a million particle effects, it's just a damn menu. Maybe it's something with resolution options, which by the way... There's no real option menu, heck even the most basic flash games have more. Fullscreen on and off is there so that's good but, that's about it, no resolution options as I mentioned about two lines back no graphics options which I guess doesn't really matter in theory since it's simple geometric shapes shooting at each others no... you get the idea. In short, I do recommend this game, obviously not because of the reasons above but because it's something I've always wanted as a kid, an Anti TD with multiplayer and now here it is and.. it somehow just doesn't run as well as it should be. I'll probably play a few more games regardless of my poor frames, since that's just how sadistic I am when playing something I actually enjoy but please do fix these issues.
its an ok game. its an RTS but with basic graphics so it doesn't require alot to run. sadly its a bit grindy to unlock everything and theres not enough variety with the modifications, you also gotta pay for that page but its affordable, you pay for it with in-game currency. a 8.9/10 for it running very well. ( however it does say my ping is through the roof, even with good internet. ) 6/10 for core gameplay. its passable but you have to unlock so much. 7/10 for the strong a.i. its one tough cookie to beat 4/10 for the grind. grinding in an RTS game IS NOT a good thing! it limits all of the sweet stratergies and so on. 9.2/10 for it bein VERY easy to learn. you can quickly get a grasp on how to play fairly quickly. however i dont think i was even able to find any online matches just yet. ima try again later on. but i dont think i've found many.
Coregrounds is honestly one of my favoriate indie games. It combines your average RTS with a tower-defence mechanism that somehow appeals to people like me. Even though it is still in the early stages of its development and its player base is rather small, I still love this game and its concept. Great work NoLifeStudios, and I hope to see the game develop and its player-base grow!
A simple yet fun game to help pass the time. Highly recommended
