After much deliberation on which cozy game to buy, I bit the bullet and finally decided on Coral Island - helped that it was on sale. And I haven't stopped playing since! Definitely a cozy farming sim, but has a nice variety content if you want to switch up your day. I'm definitely glad I bought the game after its improvements from first release. Gameplay is easy to pick up and follow through. For anyone on the fence about buying this game, I would def recommend it! Review written in first year of play.
I’ll be honest: I loved the concept of Coral Island from the start. Farming sim, social life, a colorful vibrant world, relationships, shops, side quests… obviously this sounded completely like my type of game. I played it a few years ago and spent quite a lot of time with it, so clearly I did enjoy many parts of it. You begin with the usual farming-sim setup: your own land, your farm, getting to know the townspeople, building relationships, shopping, exploring and becoming part of the community. The world is beautiful, and I especially liked the little details inside the shops and NPC homes. The merfolk side of the game also really caught my attention. Going deeper into the ocean and discovering this whole other world was something I wanted to explore much more. Now for the things I disliked. I’m really not a fan of the character art style. I know this is the visual direction the developers chose and I understand the vibe they were going for, but that almost Pixar-like look is just not for me. I personally prefer characters with a more fantasy or anime-inspired design. And for a game where relationships and romance are such a big part of the experience, this actually matters to me a lot. I want to find characters attractive and feel excited about choosing someone to romance, but here I struggled with that. There were only a few characters I found good-looking, so that was definitely a letdown. But none of that is actually why I stopped playing. The ocean trash was. I still cannot believe how much trash I had to clear underwater. At first I thought, okay, this makes sense. You clean an area, restore the ocean and progress forward. But then it just kept going. And going. And going. Endless trash everywhere. Eventually it became so repetitive and overwhelming that I completely lost the desire to continue. I understand the idea behind it, but for me the amount was simply far too much. I started feeling like I was playing an underwater trash-collecting simulator instead of enjoying everything else the game had to offer. I haven’t played in a long time, so I don’t know how much has changed or whether later updates improved that part. And that is a shame, because I really wanted to explore more of the merfolk world, build deeper relationships and see where the game would go. There is a beautiful game here, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But for me, the character art was already a personal letdown, and all that endless ocean cleaning eventually pushed me away completely.
I really enjoy the storyline and the activities within the game. I struggle with lag, but that may be more my PC which is not really updated enough to play games without issue.
This game is my comfort zone. #teamluke
IT'S LIKE STARDEW VALLEY ADN ANIMAL CROSSING:NEW HORIZONS HAD A BABY BUT ALSO THERE WAS AN OIL SPILL
I love the game overall, the lore of the mermaids! one of my fav, the healing of ocean kind of thing? AMAZING. I've always been a fan of farm simulation but this is probably the first time meeting a lore about a completely different world of merman. It makes me wanna finish the task but at the same time I'm trying to chill out so I won't be finishing the story AHHAHAHA I am playing with my boyfie, he kind of roam around the mine and I am under the water. I love meeting the merfolks!! The only setback I have was the random crash - it's frustrating when it happens specially when you've had so much progress in a day! In a multiplayer scene you can't save the game half way through the day BUMMER. I wish they add that specially if they're aware that the game crashes randomly. Overall, I'd reco this game to anyone who loves sdv, harvest moon or just a chill game in general.
마을 s등급까지 완료! 재밌었습니다. 스타듀밸리를 좋아한다면 추천 합니다
Love love love this game! It’s has a great blend of all my favourite elements from games like Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley while expanding on them further such as being and navigating underwater. The game is satisfying like most farming sims and I like that we can extend the days to be longer too. My only gripe is that I feel combat is too easy - I’m just hack and slashing for the sake of it and could easily ignore monsters with no consequence it feels. However, I’m still enjoying the mining regardless of combat but feel it could be better seeing as it’s clearly meant to be a main element of the game. Looking forward to further updates!
I love this game sooo much! I think it's better than the harvest moon or even seasons of story packs. Hope they keep updating the games and gives us more features and possibly, a bigger map! maybe they can sell it as dlc so we can support the developer as well! I don't mind, buying the extension of this game, like maybe the pokyo city or the other map to explore and experience more!!
very cute fun farming sim
