I first played this on mobile, both the mobile an pc version are accessible for blind and low vision players. I have a soft spot for accessibility so not only is this game a steal for the current price (I would argue it could be $10 still be a fair price) but Conjury is an all around fun game to play.
Overview:
Conjury is an excellent deck-builder. It's easy to pick up and has a simple and fast tutorial. Compared to other deck-builders, Conjury emphasizes tactical decision-making, with strategic choices being far less critical. This makes the entire experience feel more casual. Conjury makes use of an equipment system that is rarely seen. While Conjury is not especially innovative, it feels distinct from other deck-builders.
Gameplay:
Overall, Conjury is a fun game. The mechanics and variety are primarily focused around your deck. Normal and boss levels both send enemies in repeating waves. Individual enemies are generally defeated rather quickly, with gameplay mostly consists of balancing various resources in order to avoid being overwhelmed.
Difficulty:
Conjury is an entry level deck-builder, with difficulty levels ranging from easy to medium difficulty. Conjury can definitely offer a decent challenge, but Conjury doesn't really offer players the opportunity to invest hundreds of hours trying to master it. This lower difficulty is primarily because Conjury heavily constrains randomness. Conjury not only makes card draw available at need but also does not shuffle your hand each round. Thus, there is far less need to balance card draw/cost/value compared to other deck-builders. Similarly, Conjury enemies and bosses lack sufficient complexity to require strategic contingency planning, though they do require tactical decision-making.
Controls:
Conjury has spent a lot of time as a mobile game and it shows. The desktop controls lack a bit of polish: Keyboard controls missing, buttons tend to lack hover indicators, and mouse travel distance often feels a bit longer than necessary. Overall, controlling the game was adequate, but not amazing. Of course, those on small touch-screen devices are likely to be quite happy with the current controls. The author is quick to address user suggestions, so I expect most of these issues to be addressed over the coming weeks.
Replayability:
Conjury has 6 character choices and 4 difficulty levels. Fully completing the game requires a time investment of 10-20 hours. Personally, I found the game enjoyable enough that I continued to play it even after completing it.
Conclusion:
Conjury has an excellent design with mechanics and gameplay work very well together. It is well worth the current $4.99 price and I happily recommend it. However, if you are running Steam on large desktop device, you may want to consider buying the mobile version instead.
Disclosures:
- I paid for the Android version of Conjury. However, I received the steam key for free due to being an early member of the Discord. - The Android and Windows versions of Conjury are identical. This review is primarily based around my 35+ hours playing the Android version.
A great rogue like card game and a hidden gem. After killing enemies, you have the choice of drawing a card or adding new card/weapon to your deck. Even if you have a larger deck, the draw card option gives you more ways to get the cards you need during a fight. - Fights have 1 to 3 enemies at a time and the player needs to defeat them until you find an exit. - There are 2 weapons slots that allows the player to equip weapons or shields.
Pros:
- This is a port of a mobile game, but you would not notice since the the quality is top notch. - Each character has different strategies and can be unlocked with gems gained by winning a run. I have won with a fish strategy (adds fish cards in your deck) and your weapons/spells do more damage after adding fish to deck or playing fish cards. - Runs are fast paced and can be done in 30 minutes to 1 hour. - There are random events in the game, however they do not cause you to lose a run or put you at a major disadvantage.
Suggestions:
- Add images and more detailed description in the About this game section on Steam page. - Add endless mode to have more fun with certain builds. - Give the player more ways to use the gem currency. After unlocking all 6 characters, there is no other use for extra gems. [b] Conclusion: An excellent card game that I can recommend to beginners or more expert rogue like players. I am glad I found this game by watching either Retromation or Skoottie YouTube video. At $4.99, this game is a steal and worth trying. i really recommend this masterpiece. the developer is so awesome, listening to all feedback and working day and night to fix bugs and adding lots of new content to the game. This steam version even has keyboard shortcuts to help you play faster. The steam version is also fully accessible for blind players and works extremely well with The NVDA screen reader. I would love to buy the sound tracks to be able to listen to the songs and to support you.
This is a deceptively simple, but very very fun roguelike accessible to blind and sighted alike. I own it on both iOS and now steam, and find it worth every dollar I paid and more. The tactics are surprisingly deep for how basic the game first appears, and it leaves you plenty of room to level up in difficulty and master the game. I would not hesitate to purchase at the current five dollar price tag. A very enjoyable game that will give you hours of entertainment overall.
This is a crapton of game for under five bucks. Challenging but beatable, there are all kinds of synergies I've found in only six hours of play. Combat is different enough to be attention-getting and it definitely has the "one more play" feel to it as a result. This is probably the best game I've purchased all year at this price point. If you like the genre, enjoy this one.
Just meh. Could be good but pretty boring at the moment.
gg very nice game
Very fun deckbuilder with interesting weapon based twist. I also enjoy the little encounters on the map, this game definitely has charm. Absolutely worth the money.
Минималистичный карточный рогалик, как можно было не подписывать механики, не понятно. https://youtu.be/DRr_L3MOc_8
