Linux bros, careful with this one. This game would only run for me via Proton Experimental, even then, the game would freeze at random moments. The game does not have auto-saves and doesn't let you save anywhere. I just lost over an hour of progress. I'm not dealing with this anymore, and you shouldn't either.
⚠️Potenzielle Triggerpunkte!⚠️

Nacktheit, sexuelle Themen
jung wirkende Charaktere
Drogen (Alkohol)

🎮Gameplay🎮

🏆Achievements

Viele Achievements sind verpassbar.
Viele Achivements bekommt man durch das Spielen
Viele Achivements erfordern Grinding
Now that my fiance left me, and knowing I'll probably never get married or have children of my own flesh and blood, I guess this is all that's left to distract me from the void and sadness that haunt my every waking moment. 10/10 Mana is pretty funny
STEAM DECK works fine using GE-Proton7-16 and set to Fullscreen The very first battle took a while to load. I thought the game froze on me but it caught up and after that battles load just fine. Also, this game has a lot of really neat quality of life features and I adore the art style. The battle system feels fun too with the positionals and overall fast pace for a turn based affair. Story weirds me out so far but I am still at the start. But as the game is listed as unsupported for steam deck, I had to let you guys know that it runs just fine.
Came to another world, get multiple girls pregnant multiple times, have children, turn them into child soldiers, start an anime eugenic programme to create the strongest offsprings to form the ultimate party, leave the other unchosen children to the orphanages and to man the shops in the overworld, rinse, repeat, save the world. It makes no sense, but it doesn't matter. Jokes aside. The gameplay and the dungeon diving is simple, repetitive but fun. The story is nonsensical, but the lovable tropes that composes the characters carried it through. The advise here is to come in expecting to play through those trashy harem anime with dirt poor budget and baffling story, yet for some reason, you just can't stop watching it every single week, and you will be more than satisfied.
Conception PLUS is in a weird place because its audience sits between fans of graphic novels with male/female dialogue and traditional JRPGs. I'm more of a JRPG fan, so the graphic novel aspect was more of a chore to sit through, but the game ultimately had enough variety and complexity to keep me engaged throughout. Both Conception PLUS and Conception 2 are completely different games that are only similar in how they are designed. The procedurally generated labyrinths are actually fun to explore- there are a lot of enemy types even though the design for the bosses is repetitive. This game has a bajillion weapons and armor to pick up. You work through the story communicating with "star maidens" to give birth to "star children" to fight with you in the labyrinths. The main story only took me around 20 hours but the achievements to 100% complete it take 30-40 hours. This game has better graphics than Conception 2 because it wasn't designed for the 3DS, but the art style is scattershot. All of the maidens seem like they are from different games. You can fast forward through the dialogue, but you MUST interact with the maidens to complete the game because raising their mood bar increases the level limit on the star children. You need to raise the cap to at least 45 to beat the game, but it can be raised as high as 99. I got all the way to the final boss with level 24-capped Star Children because the game gives an influx of healing items that replenish max health. Leveling is easy and frequent in this game and you constantly pick up new weapons and armor. Weapons and armor can have a dramatic impact on how the game is played, but the damage limit is capped at 9,999 and a lot of items seem to be nerfed to stop you from exploiting the stats to one-shot everything later in the game. One thing that doesn't seem to have a limit on it is speed, however. Faster characters can attack more often and also the main character runs way faster. By level 84 he was basically speeding through the labyrinths if not instakilling everything in his path. The star children attack in groups of four each and there is a lot of flexibility on how you want to set up your party. There is a class that has the ability to reveal the entire map and another class designed to heal and use status effects. I had a lot of fun experimenting with the different classes and building a custom party and I think this is where the game truly shines. Even though the level cap is annoying your starchildren level up so fast you should see a level gained virtually every single fight. I discovered an exploit on the final boss to pull 20,000 experience out of him by "chaining" him. When you use certain attacks a gauge increases and once an enemy is chained you can hit him for additional experience and also delay his ability to attack. I found it hilarious that the game lets you do this to the final boss and it made an already enjoyable game even more fun when I discovered the exploit. Overall I love that this game captures the "feel" of a 90s JRPG while still being its own thing, and while I found a lot of the "graphic novel" romance stuff offputting and occasionally too weird for my tastes the core game play was so much fun I had no problem sinking 60 hours into this game. WIth that said, the achievements are extremely grindy and repetitive and require exploiting different rules and I found this a mix of fun and repetitive irritation, but it didn't ruin the game for me.
this game kind of reminds me of that persona 4 jamal-kun image but like tenfold
That was quite the journey. The best way I can describe this game is a mix of Etrian Odyssey, Persona and Danganronpa for combat and dating sim elements. It's not a game for everybody, but if you like dungeon crawling, incremental leveling up and good old (Japanese) highscool romance drama, you might find yourself enjoying it.
Conception PLUS: Maidens of the Twelve Stars is a game that lives and dies by how willing you are to meet it on its own peculiar terms. Developed and published by Spike Chunsoft Co., Ltd., it blends turn-based dungeon crawling with relationship simulation in a way that feels both mechanically intentional and tonally eccentric. At first glance, it can come across as a novelty built around an outlandish premise, but beneath that surface is a structured RPG that genuinely tries to integrate its systems into a cohesive loop. Whether that loop holds your interest depends largely on how much patience you have for repetition and how comfortable you are with its unconventional themes. The story follows Itsuki, an ordinary student suddenly transported to the magical world of Granvania, where he is tasked with saving the land from corruption by partnering with twelve “Star Maidens.” Each maiden represents a zodiac sign and possesses unique traits, and together they form the backbone of both the narrative and gameplay systems. The overarching plot is serviceable but rarely compelling, functioning more as a framework to introduce characters and scenarios rather than a deeply developed storyline. There are hints of larger stakes and world-building, but the game tends to prioritize character interactions and lighthearted moments over meaningful narrative progression. As a result, the story feels episodic, with individual character arcs often carrying more weight than the central conflict itself. Where the game attempts to stand out is in how it ties its social mechanics directly into gameplay progression. Building relationships with the Star Maidens is not optional—it is essential. Through bonding events and interactions, players strengthen their connections, which in turn allows for the creation of “Star Children,” the units that make up your combat party. This system creates a direct link between emotional investment and mechanical effectiveness, giving the social aspect tangible consequences. It’s an interesting idea that adds purpose to what might otherwise be standard dating sim elements, but the execution can feel uneven. Conversations and events are often repetitive, and while some characters are genuinely engaging, others fall into predictable archetypes that don’t evolve significantly over time. Combat takes place in grid-based dungeons, where positioning and coordination play a central role. Players form parties of Star Children and engage enemies in turn-based battles that emphasize flanking and group attacks. Early on, this system feels fresh, as players learn to manipulate positioning for maximum damage and efficiency. However, as the game progresses, the lack of variety in enemy behavior and dungeon design becomes more apparent. Encounters begin to feel routine, and while there are upgrades and new classes to experiment with, they rarely introduce enough strategic depth to keep the experience consistently engaging. The core mechanics remain functional and occasionally satisfying, but they struggle to maintain momentum over longer play sessions. The progression system is one of the game’s more compelling aspects, as it encourages experimentation with different party compositions and class combinations. Managing multiple groups of Star Children, optimizing their abilities, and adapting to different dungeon challenges provides a sense of growth that helps offset some of the repetition. However, this system is also tied heavily to the relationship mechanics, which means that advancing in combat often requires returning to the same social interactions repeatedly. This cyclical structure can feel rewarding at first but may become tedious for players who are less invested in the character-driven side of the experience. Visually, the game presents a polished anime aesthetic that suits its tone well. Character designs are vibrant and varied, giving each of the Star Maidens a distinct identity, even if their personalities sometimes feel less differentiated than their appearances. The environments, while functional, lack the same level of detail and creativity, with dungeon layouts often feeling generic despite their thematic differences. The soundtrack and voice acting add personality to the experience, helping to carry moments that might otherwise feel thin, though they are not standout elements in their own right. One of the most divisive aspects of Conception PLUS is its tone, which leans heavily into suggestive humor and innuendo. The “Classmating” system, which is central to creating Star Children, is presented in a stylized and exaggerated manner that walks a fine line between comedic and awkward. For some players, this will be part of the game’s charm, adding a layer of absurdity that sets it apart from more conventional RPGs. For others, it may feel repetitive or distracting, especially as the novelty wears off and the mechanic becomes a routine part of progression. In the end, Conception PLUS: Maidens of the Twelve Stars is a game that succeeds in being memorable, if not consistently engaging. Its attempt to merge relationship-building with traditional RPG mechanics is commendable, and at its best, it creates a loop where narrative and gameplay reinforce each other in meaningful ways. However, its reliance on repetition, uneven character writing, and lack of evolving combat depth prevent it from fully realizing its potential. It is a title that will resonate strongly with a specific audience—those who enjoy character-driven systems and are willing to embrace its unusual premise—but may feel drawn out or shallow to players looking for a more refined or consistently engaging RPG experience.
