Conbunn Cardboard: An appealing, cozy little game!
I think it’s fair for me to say that I have a bit of an obsession with bunnies. It’s been there for a bunch of years now, and it’ll never go away! And I also happen to really love 3D platformers... So when I found out about this cute little platformer, with a bunny protagonist, and these gorgeous 2D-in-3D graphics, I was instantly hooked! It sounded like a wonderful little journey for me to enjoy! But is it as good as I expected? Well... Conbunn Cardboard has a simple, cozy little premise: “You’re Connie, a renowned DJ bunny in Cardbun Island, and your next concert is today! Unfortunately... your beloved friend Cell lost your CDs! (CD stands for Conbunn Disc, of course). So now you must find them and give the islanders the concert of their lives!”. Simple, fun, and effective, you don’t need much more to enjoy a collectathon! Then we have the artstyle, and as I previously mentioned... this game is so pretty! It has these wonderful arts-and-crafts aesthetics, alongside the 2D cardboard character sprites: fun and unique! Alongside, we have the character designs: There aren’t that many unique characters, but the generic ones are funny, and the ones that are unique... are so cute! Cell your shy bestie bird friend who helps with promotion, Taladra your sis/manager (we don’t see her much), Ara the spider modelist who sells outfits,... and Connie herself! A cute, cheerful DJ ready to give her all for her fans! It’s also worth mentioning the music, and this being a music centered game, of course it had to be good! The stay in these locals isn’t long, which makes me not be able to remember the songs much... but I have to admit, every single time I was either humming along, or vocalising just how nice they were! What IS extremely memorable and groovy for sure however, is the completion jingle: whether you fully complete a level, a set of levels, or the entire game, you will hear a funky as hell tune. It makes completion a must! It’s addictive!! Unfortunately, Conbunn Cardboard isn’t perfect... I have two gripes with this game, those being the length, and the level design. And that doesn’t really mean it’s bad in these aspects, but rather... lacking. The level design can be quite simplistic for the most part, excluding a couple ingenious sections. It’s fair, this game doesn’t really have a very complex move set, and it’s meant to be a cozy experience, but it’s lacking nonetheless. The length however, is a bit more outrageous. This game took me an hour. Not to beat, to 100%: Get all the CDs, coins, and outfits. And it is especially annoying, as there are hubworlds in the game with next to no levels in them... I know they have platforming and collectables in them, but they’re also meant to be the bridge between the levels themselves! It leaves to be desired... Finally, there’s a tiny little thing that confounds me. You see, the game is short, cozy and simplistic, with a very basic moveset, and cute character designs. So I presumed (and still somewhat do) that it was aimed at all demographics! Which is why it shocked me when I found so many CD covers being... suggestive, to say the least. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, I don’t mind it too much... just confused me a bit, I was very much expecting a cute and innocent adventure, and it is for the most part... except for these. And that was Conbunn Cardboard! You know, even though I was slightly disappointed, I still quite recommend this game! Sure, it’s short and simple, but it was a lot of fun and extremely charming! Just... just get it on a sale. And, of course, I couldn’t finish my review without saying thanks!! Thanks to my wonderful girlfriend Moonie-Pie, for this sweet little gift!! It sure was fun to share it with you, dashing through and collecting it all, being treated with the music and graphics, and smiling all the way!! ILYSSSSSSSSSSM!! 🐰💝💖💗💖💝🐱
Connie, out! 🐰
great game love everything about it
cute
Cute 3D platformer, easy achievements, and a lot of fun. Easy buy.
fun but also short enough that a casual playthrough still lets you refund the game
A short but sweet collectathon with a cute Paper Mario aesthetic. Defs worth the price, especially if you're just looking for a relaxing little achievement hunt.
bunni bunni bunni
Yeah this is a great as hell collectathon game highly recommend if you LOVE collecting items
Hup ha haa
Short, sweet, and honestly very fun! I think it's a very good bang for your buck game, and perfect if you want a platformer to play for an evening. While i do think there could be more with this, expanded via DLC or some such, i think what you get with the base game is fun enough to be well worth what is spent on it. I hope i see more from the dev in the future!
