Command: Modern Operations is the next generation in cross-domain modern wargaming. It enables you to simulate every military engagement from post World War II to the present day and beyond. The scale is primarily tactical/operational, although strategic scale operations are also possible.

Great simulation
I get those Tom Clancy vibes from this one more than the Tom Clancy game themselves....weird.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have always enjoyed military tactical board games with a modern/contemporary setting. I also tried several on the computer but was never completely satisfied. Years ago, I bought CMANO and later upgraded to CMO. Finally, I found something versatile, flexible, and in some ways unique in the PC wargaming world. You already know that this is a damn serious product—calling it a game is an understatement. In my opinion, the weapon systems database alone is worth the price of the simulation. Almost every month, CMO is updated with new platforms and features. The developers are attentive and tireless, continuously coming up with new ideas to enhance the simulation. They are also active on a highly engaged forum where users create a steady stream of scenarios thanks to the built-in editor. The simulation runs perfectly on my PC, without crashes (I recall maybe two or three in years of play and more than 300 scenarios completed). You can always save your progress, modify settings, and tweak scenarios with the editor to suit your needs. Possible drawbacks: there is not yet an easily accessible multiplayer or cooperative system, but it seems this will be implemented in the future; the AI (computer side) is tactically capable but unable to build a plan, that is always developed by the scenario designer. CMO comes at a high price, especially with the DLCs, but if you're interested in this kind of product, it is money well spent for an incredibly flexible and up-to-date system. By far my favourite wargame. I’ve never seen anything remotely comparable. I’m fully satisfied with the product (I have the base and the Steam version, this last one only for testing, with a few hours of playtest).
This is some real-deal stuff. Insane fidelity and micro/macro management. The learning curve and the journey you go through to understand the systems, control mechanisms, operational factors, platforms and details, tactics and strategy, etc are part of the gameplay. This isn't a game where you watch a tutorial to learn to play. The tutorial is HOW you play. You are a student, a learner, and this is a war college. Google, Wikipedia, and textbooks from the US War College will be your copilots in this journey. Primary drawbacks are that the AI is largely non-reactive (because the game is so complex, they don't act as an opponent player and third parties are irrelevant. They only behave as mission makers program them to, in sequential, boolean action trees), and the monetization scheme kinda sucks so it's hard to find good campaigns/missions...probably because mission-making is so insanely complex. Very good simulator but know its limits. It's very broad and still manages some depth/complexity despite that, but because of these things you aren't against an interesting chess opponent, you're against a rube goldberg process engine that will grill you with multiple choice questions on how to handle the screens, options, asset activations, and prosecution choices you are presented with. Approach this like it's a military-themed puzzle, not an RTS. Be patient. Be curious. Be ready to use your 'head canon' to fill the gaps with imaginative context.
