Combat Monsters is a turn based strategy game in which you build your deck from a bunch of cards. You earn cards by playing campaign mode, player vs player, daily challenge and by buying / selling cards. It's fairly reasonable to say you can get any card(s) you want if you decide to put some effort to it. Gameplay feels smooth and graphics are ok, the only thing that really bothers with the graphics is that most units look pretty much exactly the same. Example all robot archers are pretty much the same in looks, but can have really big dif in stats and skills. Othervise I love the idea that theres several races with their unique passive buffs and a very large pool of cards to choose from, even if you just started the game. However, theres a few big issues with the game: 1. There clearly has never been any idea to keep cards balanced, you can have a unit that costs 3 with 1/8 stats and you can have the completely same unit, but with only 1 cost. The only dif is that the other card is legendary, the other is common. This is the basis why theres so many dif cards, theres a ton of cards that are just clearly a lot worse than another one. The only trick is that legendaries are expensive and you won't get a ton of those quickly. Theres a few dif game modes you can play from which 1 doesn't allow any rare+ cards in deck. It's reasonable to say that it's the only gamemode you can have any chance in if you are starting this game. And even then you are facing the elite players. 2. Dead community. And I seriously mean dead. You log in, theres 2 guys online preying on newbies to smash. Other minor issues are time to time graphics bugs and that the UI for building deck / going through your cards is just horrid. One could also argue that the whole UI is complete garbage. :) This is one of those games that I kinda like, but I feel it's not worth playing the game since theres only 1 viable gamemode that is reasonable to play. I just don't see the point in grinding out weeks or even months to get the cards to compete in the 3 out of 4 game modes which all accept powerhouse cards. I'v played a lot of TCGs in general and some of them on very high competive level, but I can't recall ever seeing so insanely big gap between your lowly common and most rare cards. It's like playing mtg so that you get 1 mana from each land and your opponent gets 3 and he has crafted his deck accordingly. Theres just no way you will win. Overall I would give this game something like 5-6 out of 10 and im struggling to decide whether to up or down vote here. For now i'll drop a No, but i'll check whats happening with the game in the future and perhaps after changes to the UI i'll upvote this.

Funny little game that is funny to play for a while. However the pvp community has died out which means that the only way to get cards is to grind the single player for hours to craft just one card OR, ofcourse, if you are just willing to spent a bit of money then you can get everything right away! This really breaks the game at this moment sadly, especially in combination of the very VERY high prices to craft cards.
Ignore the negative press - the developers are not money hungry freemium advertising junkies. This game is brilliant: the single player is enourmous for a free-to-play, with increasing difficulty as you proceed in the campaign, and refreshingly so (finally a game that genuinely challenges the strategist in all of us!) Forget SIM City, forget Magic:the gathering, forget 3D Chess: this game has ALL OF IT, with humour and a fascinating amount of strategies, even more so with the latest v3:reinforcements release. This game is SO BIG that it reminds of the good old days of £30 PC games with full content, a great single player AND brilliantly fun multiplayer (once you get to grips with single player of course!). It was a no-brainer to buy the tripler for £2.99 after the first few rounds as quality and challenge shines through and you know when a top game that only comes around once in a blue moon grabs your attention. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the 'Legendary' or 'Rare' cards - having played this game for more than a year, I can safely say it is all about a good strategy, and with v3 there is even a mode called 'Pauper' where NO legendary and rare cards are even allowed :D. With the plethora of monsters, equipment and spells to pick from, there really is something for everyone and the variety in strategies plus the new daily challenges AND the testing single player campaign (that you can now play 4 times over with the different modes) is simply BRILLIANT - this is THE BEST GAME (I've even sold my now dust-collecting Xbox). THANK YOU RUBICON
game doesnt work
i'm so sad this game no longer works for me. I had gone a while without playing it but was planning to start it up again. When I logged on, it wouldn't connect to any server. Then I saw how the game is no avaliable in steam store. I guess it's also no longer avaliable to those who had put some time and few dollars into it.
Great game but it's dead and gone now. DIdn't play it much on steam but I played a ton on the mobile version, so I thought I'd express my regret that it's gone here.
Nicely done, very funny and multiplatform, u can play from pc and then on your smartphone with the same account.
Has a few things going for it, but after looking at forums and seeing a not terribly professional developer post, and seeing friend codes in-game, I know this is not a game I will come back to. (Note: One could say the developer was provoked, but really - a professional needs to conduct themselves professionally under whatever circumstance.)
