It is a fun and difficult Megaman style game, I guess closer to Zero since you're using a sword. Your sword can reflect most bombs and bullets. The game is very short. You technically only have 1 hp but every time you take a hit you can rewind time upwards to 3 seconds depending on how much meter you have. So that alternatively serves as your hp. The controls are great. You have a triple swing on the ground, a double swing in the air, an upward swing on the ground and in the air, and a dash attack. You have dash, invincible backroll, double jump, air dash, wall kick, wall cling. A lot of people complained about wall kicking where I'm guessing they're too use to Megaman X/Zero games wall kick where you can climb the same wall. This game's wall kick is closer to 2D Mario platformers where you wall kick in the opposite direction. The level design is kind of iffy. There are platforms are requires rewind to be active but they don't stay up for long which is annoying considering your time gauge is valuable. There are blocks are alternate between active and inactive when you use rewind which is a fine mechanic. Some enemy placements are a pain in the ass. They like to put a giant bullet reflecting barrier in the middle of a horde of enemies which will take a few tries going ham to see how you can get in. The boss fights are fairly difficult and requires a lot of memorizing and pattern recognition because you can't really take many hits. Some of the fights are fun while some are kind not what I would perfer to say the least. I couldn't tell you whats going on in the story but the character interactions are fun. The music is good too. Going for all achievements shouldn't be frustrating due to the unlockable you get after beating the game which ease up the difficulty quite a bit. Overall I had a lot of fun with this game despite some of the designs. I recommend this.
Mega Man Zero + One-Hit Kill + Time Mechanics = COGEN: Sword of Rewind A solid game, plays great on Steam Deck with no issues I've found so far. I like the characters, the setting, the gameplay; sometimes I feel like an idiot sometimes it makes me feel like a certified badass. The time rewind function is pretty fun too, it's not brutally hard but gives me "classic Mega Man" difficulty vibes with the one-hit kill and time rewind twist.
Getting the one issue I have with this game out of the way: Way too short, especially for the price. I recommend waiting for a sale (like I did). But I do recommend getting it! If you like 2D platform shooters à la Azure Striker or Megaman you're going to love this, especially if you love getting your butt destroyed. The art is gorgeous, the music is pretty great, the story is aight, but the gameplay is super addictive. Also, it's hard to blame the game when you lose when you have the power to straight up rewind. Can make for really tense quick reactions to keep yourself alive, really fun! I'll give developers my cash for a sequel, that'll hopefully be longer, but keeps the same rewind mechanic.
Incredibly fun gameplay, Kohaku is very fun to control and the whole concept of "one health but you can rewind time" is very cool and unique. My biggest gripe though is the level design. There are so many instances in the first half of the game where it just feels like they're mindlessly throwing insanely difficult hordes of enemies at you, and the second half of the game is almost entirely that. This is not a relaxing game by any means, I've wanted to spike my controller off the ground because of it so many times. But it's fun, I enjoy playing it most of the time and would recommend.
整體設計很單調,而且很多技能很詭異,期待想玩到洛克人的人會失望
Overpriced for what you really get. Gameplay is very hard also. Keyboard control can't remapping, recommend to use gamepad.
