This game has a lot of potential but there's a couple of things that let it down. For example even when the enemy isn't in view or on the screen yet, you get shot at by the plants that spit things at you but how are you supposed to dodge them when you don't know that they are there? It leads to a very cheap kill system. It basically gives the AI an unfair advantage. In some parts you have to press the down arrow to get to certain places that aren't visable. How below some of these places are spikes but the problem with this is that the spikes aren't visable before hand, so you don't have a logical way of preparing to dodge the spikes. Instead, Cluckles just plumets towards the spikes and you have to redo the level, which isn't fair because it's not the players fault as they weren't actually physically able to see the spikes and plan a way of getting around them. I do like the graphics and the combat with the sword and shield and would be interested to see these parts of the game develop. The amount of levels is just right and the platforming and parkour mechanisms such as clinging onto the walls is well thought out. The game lacks slightly when it comes to the tutorials. For example there are certain parts in the levels where you have to double jump and then use your sword to further extend the jump, otherwise you can't make the jump at all. When playing for the first time, it never once occurred to me that I could of used my sword to extend the jumps. With this in mind, I think it would be nice to see this included in the tutorial as it is clearly key to making certain jumps in the game. I'm sure this has been mentioned before also but the controller support in the menu isn't great but I'm sure the devs are already working on this, or at least I hope so. Overall, this is a game with a lot of potential and visually looks very good with some great ideas and mechanics but does have room for a lot of improvement. I would definitely recommend if you like platformer games.
very enjoyable and addictive . simple graphics but i would recommend . 100 levels for your money which has to be good . the levels start off fairly easy but gradually get harder . It gets very tough from around level 50 so expect an excellent challenge . well worth buying . A very enjoyable and good fun game .
Very fun, yet difficult game! Just some basics commands: jump, double jump, dash/attack, but the level design is so well-thought you can do a lot. It's really hard to rescue all the chicks, but really sastisfying too. For this price, it's a steal, you should get it immediatly if you like plateformers.
Harder than DarkSouls
Fun platformer, controlling the menus with a controller is a bit strange but not terrible, other than that no complaints.
Cluckles' Adventure is a vibrant indie action-platformer developed by @lukasinspace and published by Funbit Pty Ltd that embraces the spirit of classic 2D platforming while layering in modern design sensibilities and replay incentives. Centered on the determined heroine Cluckles—a sword-wielding chicken on a mission to rescue her kidnapped chicks—the game combines lighthearted storytelling with surprisingly robust level design. While the premise is simple and whimsical, the execution reflects a thoughtful understanding of what makes traditional platformers enduringly satisfying: responsive controls, carefully structured challenges, and secrets that reward attentive exploration. From the first level, the game establishes a brisk and engaging rhythm. Movement feels tight and deliberate, with Cluckles able to jump, double jump, and perform dash attacks that allow for both precision and aggression. The physics strike a balanced middle ground between arcade accessibility and technical control, giving players confidence in every leap across gaps or over spike traps. Enemy encounters are straightforward but varied, requiring timing and awareness rather than brute force. This clarity in mechanics makes the early stages inviting to newcomers, while the gradual introduction of trickier hazards ensures the difficulty curve escalates in a measured, fair manner. Level design is one of the strongest aspects of Cluckles’ Adventure. Spread across more than one hundred handcrafted stages, the environments evolve in complexity as new obstacles and layouts are introduced. Some stages emphasize verticality, requiring precise jumps and clever use of dash mechanics, while others focus on horizontal momentum and enemy management. Hidden chicks scattered throughout each level encourage players to look beyond the most obvious path. These collectibles are often tucked behind false walls or positioned in risky areas that demand skillful navigation, turning each stage into a miniature puzzle as well as a platforming challenge. The pixel art presentation reinforces the game’s retro roots without feeling dated. Character animations are expressive and fluid, giving Cluckles a surprising amount of personality for a small sprite. Backgrounds are colorful and cleanly designed, ensuring hazards remain readable even in busier scenes. This visual clarity is crucial in a game where timing and spatial awareness are central to success. Complementing the art is an upbeat chiptune soundtrack that maintains a sense of momentum throughout the adventure. The music enhances the energy of each stage without overwhelming the gameplay, making longer sessions enjoyable rather than fatiguing. Replayability is woven into the structure through multiple play modes. In Classic mode, players can explore levels at their own pace, focusing on collecting all hidden chicks and mastering each environment. For those who crave additional challenge, Speed Run mode introduces time tracking and leaderboard integration, encouraging optimization and precise execution. This dual approach allows the game to cater to both casual players seeking relaxed exploration and competitive players aiming to perfect their routes. The contrast between thorough exploration and time-efficient mastery adds significant longevity to what might otherwise be a straightforward campaign. While the game does not rely on complex narrative arcs or expansive world-building, its charm lies in consistency and polish. The rescue-mission storyline provides enough motivation to frame progression, but the true engagement comes from the tactile satisfaction of movement and discovery. Occasional boss encounters add variety and serve as milestones that test the player’s accumulated skills. These confrontations are designed more around pattern recognition and timing than overwhelming difficulty, maintaining the game’s accessible tone while still delivering memorable moments. Ultimately, Cluckles’ Adventure stands out as a confident indie platformer that understands its strengths. It delivers a polished, content-rich experience within a modest scope, balancing accessibility with challenge and charm with mechanical depth. For players who appreciate tight 2D action, collectible-driven exploration, and the thrill of shaving seconds off a perfected run, it offers a rewarding and replayable journey. Its combination of old-school sensibility and thoughtful modern features makes it a notable entry in the indie platforming landscape. Rating: 6/10
If you are looking for a decent puzzle platformer, Cluckles Adventure won't disappoint. It has plenty of levels and good controls. Worked well with my gamepad.
