P.S. IS THIS GAMBLING?

idk man i wish i liked it but its just not that fun. i dont like to go too early on reviews for roguelikes but even this early on it doesnt feel like itll get to where i can actually manipulate luck in any meaningful way. im sure there are crazy broken runs but the slow pace overall really doesnt do it for me. visual style is cool on the paper but the way everything jitters around really hurts my eyes after a while sound design is really strange to me because theres absolutely some stellar audio bits in here (mainly everything to do with the slot machine itself) but the way that items are compressed makes it feel like it wants to be inscryption really bad with this "roguelike normal game turned into a dark saw-esque race to the bottom" but it clashes really hard. just listen to the activation sound of the d4 for more than a minute and youll want to throw your headphones at a wall. might change the review later, usually with roguelikes theres a bump you have to hit before the game gets really good but for the time being i cant bring myself to recommend this one

I was disappointed by this game. Play Luck be a Landlord instead. The vibe is neat and I appreciate the direction they were going. However, the gameplay is dead boring. The "relics" are fairly basic and unoriginal. The slot gameplay is dull and there's a lot of repetition. The 666 mechanic is just annoying. It feels like the game doesn't respect your time when you do 6 spins and the 7th is a 666. Doesn't feel like you had a choice in risk and reward, just lose what you have and start over. Boring. And frustrating. The last straw for me though was the lack of telegraphing your score. I decided to buy a bunch of Lemon themed relics, got a very high score and up to deadline #10, but throughout the entire run, I really had minimal idea why one spin would get me 150, and another would get me 40,000 coins. I know there are charts on the walls, but there's no way to see the math behind your score result, and thus, felt like I had no agency in the game at all. Also when I beat the game once, I was hoping for a bit of story. You get a black screen that says "the mystery deepens" which feels incredibly patronizing and low effort.
