Genuinely thought this was a work in progress game. Then I rechecked the store page and nope, they really did decide to go out like this. I wish I had the confidence Flatrock Games has, the absolute audacity to release a game and charge actual legal tender in this state is a testament to the hubris of man. The most obvious issues are the audio, it is either always too loud or too quite, the music doesn't que at the right times and it never gives you any tension or anticipation for what's around the corner. The choice to have velociraptors as the first enemy in the game was defiantly one of the game decisions of all time. Would have been cool if they showed up later since you know those guys are one of the most beloved dinos of the bunch and not be used as throw away fodder. The multiplayer has this very cool feature where if the host pauses everyone else stops in place and can't move. Love to have shut in syndrome simulator in my Dino game as a treat. Over all for the half hour or so I spent in this game, I think I should be paid for QA since they Flatrock obviously didn't in development. I take either cash or you can gift me an actual quality game in return. If this game has some sort of glowup and this review ages poorly then I will be willing to eat my words and pay full price. But I don't really think it will, good luck to Flatrock tho, hope ya'll turn it around.
I can't wait to play this once its updated and running properly, but as of right now, it's unplayable... I have a 4080 Super, and an AMD 9800x3d, and the game stutters like its at 5 Fps when i look around sometimes, even on low Graphics settings.. This needs some serious optimization work. Unplayable. Decided to deal with the above issue, and ran into all kinds of bugs...Lost inventory, power not being on after turning it on, mission objectives not updating and resetting, checkpoints not updating, Menu option control bugs, and much more.. This needs a looooot of work. I'm sorry, I am really looking forward to this game, and am not trying to be negative, but this is not even worthy of release as it stands...
This feels like a game that they created a pretty good environmental world, and then tried to make a game out of it very quickly and sloppily. You can tell that the devs did not even play a single playthrough of their own game with how many bugs and clunkiness is in the game. And once you die once, so many bugs happen. Multiplayer has weird loading where the person that is not the host can load at the beginning of the game and have their respawn point reset to the beginning of the game. You also reset the world with enemies and loot respawning. But there is nowhere enough ammo to be able to kill the dinosaurs, let alone run away from them to progress. Even the UI has bugs, the compass often stops working after a death. There are ledges or spots where the Dino AI stops chasing you at. You lose your task/quests after dying once, so you can't reference what your objectives actually are. You can also accidentally hit a future respawn point in a house that you do not have the key to even get out of yet, needing to restart the game again. With so many glaring bugs in just the first few hours, is really is highly doubtful the developer even played their game with an actual playthrough. At most, they likely just loaded specific scenes one at a time and did the bare minimum testing, if at all. At this point, I would not be surprised if they just had AI code the game for them, as several bugs are so obvious and pronounced that you cannot miss finding more than a dozen in under a single hour of playing the game. Cool concept, good world although could be further improved, but very very bad gameplay design and coding leading to numerous game breaking bugs that can soft lock you.
I KNOW... it just came out, but for how long it took to drop this?! straight buns... I'd put deathground AND this game in the same category if I had to separate them into tiers of dukey. I just wouldn't be able to fit it all in a paragraph what's wrong with it... don't waste your succulent delectable dollars on this, just go get food.
My verdict on Clawed after 20 hours of playtime: Pros: - Dinosaur park concept - Atmosphere - Park size - Crafting Cons: - Performance - Sound - Linear dino AI - Controls (why can't you hip-fire?) - Bugs (so many bugs!) - Multiplayer issues (quest progress, spawn system, sudden inventory loss upon rejoining, loss of materials from storage crates) We’ve currently put 20 hours into co-op and reached the end—all quests done, all collectibles gathered. But now we can't finish the game. I don't want to spoil anything... Unfortunately, I can't recommend the game in this state—especially not at this price point! To me, there are too many elements that haven't been fully developed or implemented. It's a shame! The concept is great, but the execution falls short!
this game sucks
I'm pretty sure this game had potential but the game is completely broken, even just doing and setting up the menus are broken, it doesn't even feel like a horror game either, i do not recommend this game
At least in single player, the game is awesome! Gorgeous, atmospheric, good tension. Love that you can choose 1st or 3rd person view. I've wanted a game like this for a long time, and I don't even play survival horrors. For a two man team, amazing job!
