Reviews
had a great and wonderful experience. Really and really obsessed with this game.Full of action, thrill and adventure. Best pixel graphic and features. Play more and more.
The battle system for this classic style RPG is amazing, however currently there is no story (will be added later according to the dev) and there is no exploration (nor will there be at full release). Since I played the game before the story was available I'll mostly be reviewing the battle system. First off I loved the music. It gives the game the charming feel I expect from a classic RPG. The user interface for battles also looks good, with your current turn order and next turn order displayed on top and your character info displayed to the right. Icons for status effects and weapons are clearly recognizable so you'll know what each one means if you've played the genre before. As for the graphics, monsters are varied and have cool designs. Your playable characters are chibi sprites like in the old FF games. The best part of the package is the battle system. It focuses around a break mechanic which is a novel way of incorporating weakness exploitation into an RPG. Each monster has a guard count which is reduced by 1 each time it is hit by an element or weapon it is weak to. When the guard count reaches 0 the monster is stunned and seemingly vulnerable to all damage. This makes combat feel quite tactical choosing which monster to focus on stunning as a core mechanic. Everything that is currently in the game is very well done, however it will not be for people that want exploration and I would suggest to wait for the story to be added before playing through it.
All the main mechanics of the game are amazing. Great combat system, but i have a few thoughts because without a story i really didn't feel motivated to complete the game at all. (Why the monsters are there? , How did our protagonists end up here? , is there a being controlling the monsters? .etc) The music became very repetitive after some time and i also feel it should start of at 20% instead of 40%, it really hurt my ears. The tutorial was very well done and polished. I also feel like the xp should be given based on how much the character has participated. I played an entire chapter with the Trader only taking naps and yet it was given the same amount of xp as the others. The UI was good but a few tweaks, just giving ON and OFF, green and red colors aswell as using different fonts for the Left Hand Side and the Right Hand Side would have given the UI a much better feel. I thought there was an autosave feature after each battle or chapter, but there wasn't and i lost all my progress. So, add that. I also didn't even touch the Heal spell till the end of chapter 4 so try making the chapter 2 and 3 bosses a bit more harder. I also feel like, you should be able to leave a chapter with a warning that "Your progress won't be saved". I wanted to leave inbetween a fight but i couldn't and i needed to finish the whole chapter before i could leave. I was spamming the escape key. Also add 1080p support and make the controls WASD. But the main thing is the story, without a story i didn't feel very into the game at all. A good story would make this game 60% better. I would have also recommended it to my friends if there was a story. This game has a lot of potential, so don't waste it and could be a very good RPG. Good luck. (PS. I was hired by the Dev for this review and was provided a stream key) (Also I'm not american so sorry if i spelt or used a word wrong)
(I got a key from the developer for testing) I'd really wish Steam had a option for a mixed review. Currently the game is a bit overpriced for an Early Access game, especially since it doesn't have a story added yet. But the core gameplay and the future plans for the story make it worth while. The game is really enjoyable and great to just kick back and relax to. The graphics give the game an old school retro vibe. It really reminds me of the earlier Final Fantasy games graphics wise. The audio creates a fantasy/adventure atmosphere with a wide selection of tracks, but it does get a bit repetitive and monotonous. Combat mechanics are easy to understand and master. Enemies are well balanced in regards to the different difficulties. Bosses are powerful but not OP. Even on Easy you can't just one-tap enemies and you can still loose your party members. You can easy grind to level up without it becoming a hassle. Keybindings are a bit odd though. At the current state of the game, unless your a big fan of the JRPG genre, it's not worth the price right now without the story.
As i got the key form the dev so this will not affect the review in ranking. Here is a Short note. Good graphics. great combat UI, VFX. no story or exploration (which will be available in later patch as the dev said). So its up to you if you want to buy it right now or later. right now you can only try out the battle system and a cheat mode for it to test out with different mob/boss in different gears .
Ah,. the story is very similar to mine I created a group and I became bound to the group instead. miss that moment, thanks for bringing back that memories.
7/10 (Game ver. 0.58) I got the key from the developer. I cleared the main story (without story yet) in the difficulty of normal. -- English Comment:
Great Combine of Features
This game is a turn-battle JRPG with some strategic features. We have the BPs. We have the breaking sheilds. And we have the multiple weapons. The game combines the features well that we can feel the whole thing in same picture, which is enjoyable. With some nice tutorial and smooth character upgrading, the game looks great in first impression.
Fight with All of Your Team Members
In this game, we can change our battle members in every turn in fights. This improves the diversity of the fights dramatically. We need to consider almost every members in terms of our strategy in contrast of just thinking of 3 or 4 of them. Although there are still useless members (IMAO apparently), the feeling of fighting with all of your members is strong enough. And this is what we need in a JRPG.
The Late-game is a bit of Downgrade
As the developer putting great effort to make every boss fights look different, the later part of the game is a bit of downgrade. Our characters learn their last skill in level 60 as our travel is still last long. The stats of the characters are limited, so the effects of equipment are as limited in later game. Players cannot do much to keep thier team improving in later of the game (I have much gold apparently because I was in normal difficulty) and the boss fights just helplessly take longer and longer in every chapters. I would suggest some more features improving our teams in late-game to keep the excitement.
Conclusion
Overall this is a good turn-base battle game which I hope it to get even better. I would recommend it to players who loves the JRPG turn-base battles. And I cannot wait to see its final form with the stories.
Great combat system. I had no issues with this game so far. The music can be improved. The soundtracks aren't very unique and are sometimes repetitive. I can't really recommend this game at this time because it's still in early access and the price could be lowered a bit at this stage.
Amazing pixel graphics with realistic special effects, this is a reason why I liked this game. Keep up the good work!
