About

One of 2022’s most acclaimed indies, the Game Awards-nominated Citizen Sleeper is a Tabletop-inspired narrative RPG set on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station that is home to thousands of people trying to survive on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society.
You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back. Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle.

Inspired by Tabletop Roleplaying games, Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world. Each cycle you use the dice you are dealt to choose what to do with your time. Make or break alliances, uncover truths and escape your hunters. Survive and ultimately thrive, one cycle at a time, and sometimes against the clock!

The station plays host to characters from all walks of life, trying to eke out an existence among the stars. Salvagers, engineers, hackers, bartenders, street-food vendors, each has a history which brought them here. You choose which of them you wish to help, and together you will shape your future.

Eventually, you will learn to use your dice to hack into the station’s cloud to access decades of digital data, uncover new areas and unlock secrets. This is your unique power, and with it you can change your future. Corporate secrets, rogue AIs and troves of lost data await those willing to dive into the depths of the station’s networks.

Essen-Arp: to them you are just property, one more asset in a portfolio that stretches across the stars. You are the product of an abusive system, in a universe where humanity’s expansion is marked by exploitation and extraction. Escape the makers of your decaying body, and chart your own path in a richly imagined, deeply relevant sci-fi world which explores ideas of precarity, personhood and freedom.

Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world.

Each cycle you roll your dice. Assign them to vast range of actions available on the station. With every action, choose what, and who, matters to you, shaping the lives of those around you, and ultimately the future of the station.

Clocks track both your actions and the actions of others across the station. From becoming a local at the Overlook Bar to protecting a friend from Yatagan enforcers, clocks allow you to track your own progress and the influence you have on the world around you.

Follow drives not quests, allowing you to pick and choose the stories and activities that matter to you. As you do, you will shape your character's five skills (Engineer, Interface, Endure, Intuit and Engage), unlocking perks and bonuses that reflect and change how you choose to live in this world.

Citizen Sleeper now includes all three post-launch DLC episodes FLUX, REFUGE and PURGE, which expand the game and introduce additional characters and locations to Erlin’s Eye in an exciting new late game storyline.

Reviews
This is a corporate-dystopian scifi visual novel with time & resource management gameplay elements and dialogue-based choices-matter decisions that affect quest/story outcomes, where you must balance exploring with progressing the story and upgrading your character's abilities. If that sounds up your alley, you will love this game. The characters, writing, and (yes, relatively few) visuals are incredibly well done. I would have consumed this story in any medium -- book, TV show, etc. However, if you hate visual novels, I do not recommend this game. The artwork is beautiful, but there is not a lot of it, and nothing is animated. I have seen a lot of reviews complain about this, and I wanted to mention it here for those thinking about playing it, because I believe this game deserves a higher rating. I put off playing this game because of the "lack of visuals," but when I finally picked it up, I got absolutely sucked into it, so if you're willing to use your imagination to make up for the static, visual-novel style presentation (and you're a fan of gritty space scifi dystopia stories in the same subgenre as The Expanse) then I highly recommend this game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I literally found this game on while I was browsing Game Pass on a free subscription from Discord. I was getting tired of the same old games that I've been playing. Then, I saw the pink poster, listened to the bgm on the trailer, and I was like, "Yeah, sure. Why not?" Citizen Sleeper has changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined. The characters are endearing. The story is heartwarming. The pace is perfect. The morality of every single choice and how each of it weighs down on you. I felt every single emotion throughout my two playthroughs. For me, this is the perfect game. I'm so glad I got bored and installed it then. This game is a generational masterpiece. P.S. The music is a work of art. And speaking of art, all of the artworks were just...chef's kiss. And the vibe... I genuinely love this game~ P.P.S. I love Emphis' character so so much~ Our interactions with him...I could almost smell the food he was cooking...
good
Great story and my favorite game out of those I've played the last few years. You are a sleeper, an emulation of a human mind in a machine body, on the run from corporation who has found yourself on a station outside corporate control…for now. While it can feel like an RPG on a first playthrough, it is a relatively linear game despite having multiple endings. However, the illusion of choice does put you in the Sleeper’s shoes to a degree I don’t think would be otherwise possible. The story continues in Citizen Sleeper 2, which follows a different sleeper but in which many of the characters you meet here return and you get to see the conclusion of their original quest lines years (decades?) later. Steam Deck Note: You can’t upgrade your sleeper when playing on the Steam Deck. All other functionality works on the Steam Deck.
tbh the game is very mid (at least imo). i'll start with things i like. the artstyle is just beatiful ost is very good, you can feal the vibes of the world the story is probably good (because i didnt played the whole game, but from what i read it seemed interesting (i just dont like reading :P )) but the biggest downside for me is the gameplay, it's really repetative, in case of some things i didnt knew what to do and the game just blocked me, and for me it's just boring. i also thing the game could be a little bit cheaper for what it can offer. i just got it as a gift from my friend because he had some spare keys
