Want to be a Brutal Monster that Destroys every thing in its Path? Want to Build yourself a Mountain of Gold? How about become a self declared God! Have a Kingdom to Worship you! Then you might be interested in this. Choice of Dragon is a Short, Sweet, Stupid, Simply Story where you get to be the Big Bad Monster in a Fantasy Setting. A few things I should say before someone gets this however: If you want to enjoy this story, the name of the game is low Expectations! When I say this is a Short Story I mean it! The story takes between 20-40 mins to Playthrough, so don't expect anything complex. Because of this it is rather simple at times, with the decisions feeling basic. Also the current price is way to much for this game! It is not worth $6. (So if your are interested in getting this game, only get it when it goes on sale. I can not recommend it while its at full price) So, my best advice when playing this game is to not take it seriously. Cause it doesn't even take it's self seriously! A fair chunk of the game is Jokey Narration, which I think is the reason I enjoyed it. The whole idea of it is you get to be the Villain on a Power Trip! So do that! Be as Brutal, Evil, Cunning, and as Self Absorbed as Possible! The game play is seemingly built around this too. State checks can be insanely high at times, and pushes you to dump everything into 1 or 2 states. Balanced characters do not work. GO BIG OR GO HOME!!! Honestly though, if you want something quick and stupid where you can turn your brain off for a hour. I'd say get it!
Choice of the Dragon is an entirely text-based Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game. While the writing and story are fairly good (I have not noticed any typos, the story was coherent), the lack of the save/load function offline and constant advertisements for the other games of the developer are significant enough to not recommend this.
A very short and dull game. Very boring. Annoyed that I can not keep the shield no matter what choice I make. Boring and short.
I played this when it came out on Android, it's been a while and I'm a fan of fantasy stuff, this game has a lot of replayability but... it's not suited for every audience, if you like story telling, or these kind of text games, or want to try and get full achievements, it's fun. Otherwise just keep looking for a different game
Too short.
Короткий, но при этом крайне забавный роман в фэнтези сеттинге.
Choice of the Dragon by Dan Fabulich and Adam Strong-Morse is a text-based adventure game published by Choice of Games and using CoG’s ChoiceScript engine. The ChoiceScript engine is also used by all of Choice of Games’ games, as well as by all Hosted Games games (Hosted Games, despite being listed as a separate publisher in the store, is just a brand used by CoG). If you haven’t played any of the other ChoiceScript games, they play like a hybrid between RPGs and chose-your-own-adventure novels. At each page, you are presented with a multiple-choice question about what your character does. Unlike the paper CYOA books, you also have stats, which are altered based on your choices. Some choices may seem to have no immediate effect on the story, but they can alter your stats, which can unlock certain options much further down the road. CHOICESCRIPT GAMES ARE ENTIRELY TEXT-BASED! THIS GAME CONTAINS NO GRAPHICS OR SOUND OF ANY KIND. IF YOU REQUIRE GRAPHICS TO ENJOY A GAME, YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY THIS GAME. You take the role of a dragon in a stereotypical pseudo-medieval fantasy world, where you can kidnap princesses or princes, fend of heroic adventurers, and demand tributes. Compared to other ChoiceScript games, Choice of the dragon is much shorter, and the story and world have less depth. There are also far fewer game stats than in later games. Choice of the Dragon is one of the earliest ChoiceScript games, and in some ways it feels less like a full game and more like a proof of concept for the engine. Also, unlike in later ChoiceScript games, there is no randomness in when certain events happen, making it possible to get a specific ending or achievement by copying another player's choices. With that said, the game is fun as well as completely free with no ads or microtransactions, so it is well worth giving a try.
Good but short
Choice of the Dragon is a text-based game. In COTD, the player controls a single character by choosing an option from a list of them. Every choice made has a different consequence. The character's stats and all possible endings are representations of these consequences. The number of storylines every choice opens up makes it a replayable game. Choice of the Dragon is a game that emphasizes control. The menu-based interface helps players to make choices that have real consequences for the story. Although it can be limiting for some, is also comforting, as pre-given options provide a clear path for players to follow. It’s easier to make an impacting choice when given a list of options rather than an open-ended question. In its way, COTD also sparks curiosity. As players can make choices that reflect their personalities and experience what it would be like to be a dragon, they learn more about themselves. The game's stats, which keep track of the player's progress and choices, help reflect this. However, like any game, Choice of the Dragon can frustrate players if their choices lead to undesirable outcomes, like when you don’t have enough of a stat to make a choice or you end up not getting a mate because you chose the wrong option to attract them. This can be challenging, but it also adds to the game's replay value and makes it more attractive for players to explore different outcomes. Choice of the Dragon is an immersive experience. In Choice of the Dragon, this happens by making the players responsible for the story's outcome. Through multiple-choice, players can express themselves. They shape the story according to their goals: in any scene, the player chooses the action that aligns with their desired outcome. This makes the primary aesthetic expression.
