About
Break blocks, grab powerups, solve puzzles, and beat bosses! When a mysterious tower appears in the forest, Chico the Chipmunk and his new friend Beeatrice decide to go exploring. Waiting inside are a whole host of block-breaking challenges, clever environmental puzzles, and secrets to be unraveled! Help them solve the mystery of the Celestial Tower!
In the block breaking Rebound challenges, you'll be tasked with clearing every block from the stage by bouncing around Chico's trusty giant walnut. Keep a long volley going to get a high score! Do a tail-whip to keep the walnut up and change the angle of the shot. It's simple to play but takes skill to master!
And of course, it's not always that simple. There are over a dozen types of blocks, and power-ups for the walnut. Fire power burns grass blocks, spikes smash through blocks with ease, explosive power breaks stone, and much much more! Try different combinations and see how they interact.
Fans, cannons, ghosts, and more turn each level into a unique challenge! This is block-breaking like you've never experienced it before.
In between Rebound challenges you'll traverse the mysterious Celestial Tower, a large interconnected dungeon full of environmental puzzles! Explore all 6 floors of the tower, unlock new paths, and make your way to the very top! You'll meet a cast of characters who need your help, as they try to complete a secret mission. Can you solve the puzzles, uncover the truth of the Celestial Tower, and save the day?
Have fun and show off your unique style! Save up the sunflower seeds you collect, and you can trade them in for special designs for both your walnut and the game's interface! Why not bounce around a watermelon or a paper lantern instead of a walnut? There are a bunch of colors and styles to choose from.

An absolutely charming little adventure! The moment I started playing I knew this one was going to be something special, and I was not wrong. It has a very Gameboy Color vibe to it, with some fun twists on classic brickbreaking gameplay that make it feel more like volleyball. As a fan of chipmunks in the first place (I have one who lives under my back porch and he is more than welcome to stay), the characters and story are right up my alley. Unlike most games in this genre, you catch the ball by default unless you smack it back with your tail, building up your combo for big points. This is a REALLY nice change of pace and it's executed excellently. Aesthetically, like I said, it's very Gameboy Color in both art and sound, but also doesn't feel beholden to limitations like color palettes, which is fine. It is current year, after all. It all works great together though and I'd say it's very much worthy of it's BostonFIG Visual Art award! It looks like there's a lot to enjoy here and I'm excited to keep going.
"Chipmunk Block Break" Chico’s Rebound takes the classic block-breaking formula and does the classic block-breaking formula. The boss encounters were a nice surprise, and the game does a good job gradually introducing new mechanics without overwhelming the player. There were moments where progression felt unclear, including what seemed like a possible glitch, but the overall presentation and gameplay loop stayed enjoyable throughout. A charming arcade-style game with more depth than expected. Gameplay
I've only taken a small bite out of the game so far, but already I'm getting super distracted from eating breakfast by playing it. Lots of fun, satisfying movement, feels really good to break those blocks. Excited to see what else is lined up in the game
Having a great time with this game so far! Cute breakout style game with some puzzle elements as well. The breakout-style stages are the main focus, but exploring the tower and solving the puzzles around the tower in between stages adds a fun, different element. I especially like the different power-ups available in the breakout-style stages, such as the fire power-up (which can burn grass blocks) and the water power-up (which can restore grass blocks). The default amount of "lives" in the breakout-style stages is 3, but for people like me who sometimes struggle to clear stages, you can increase this to 9 whenever you want! Or if you really want a challenge, you can reduce this to 1. Overall, I definitely think this is a good game to pick up.
A short, cute puzzle game with Breakout-inspired levels. I loved the Gameboy Color aesthetic, and the art and music were excellent. I loved the Pride-themed cosmetics as well. The gameplay leans a lot more into puzzles than action, as far as the block breaking goes, and really incentivises you to complete levels in a single throw, so expect to restart levels constantly. I honestly found the overworld puzzles a bit more engaging to me than many of the main levels.
I can't stop playing this game, it's fantastic.
Edit : I've 100%'d it. The game is a lot of fun. There's a tower with 2 stages (5 boards each) per floor, and you play a sort of action-arkanoid game on each one. You have a ball, you pick an angle to launch it, and break the bricks on the board. You time a melee attack on the ball to send it back up, if it gets past you 3 times you have to retry the board. Each board has 2 coins you earn, one by beating it, and one by hitting the par score. I'd recommend going for the par score on every board as you go, because the default clears are a bit easy, and you actually need many of the bonus coins to progress through the game. There's a hub tower, and you are allowed to access later stages by having enough coins. The tower is sort of a gruntilda's-castle sort of thing, and the multiple-floor-spanning puzzles in there (some required, some optional) are pretty fun, but never terribly difficult. Art wise, it has a faux NES thing going on, as the music seems to stick to the NES limitations for the most part. Said music is the weakest part of the experience by far, (especially the first floor unfortunately), but the songs do get more fun as you progress. I failed to mention there are many block types that do weird things and interact with powerups that you manually activate on the ball mid-flight, and it's all a lot more fun than i expected going in. The bosses are all fun except for the skeleton octopus, which is just very unclear how it works. I hope the grass you have to grow in order to light it on fire and set off the bombs that make him vulnerable is patched to be like, clearer and easier to hit at some point. There are also some minor technical failings in the game, but they didn't get in the way of much. Sometimes when done interacting with someone (a sign / npc) you can't just walk left or right, you must first walk down. There are some looping sound effects (one in a boss fight) that if you die while they're playing, it loops until you close and relaunch the game. There are also a couple instances where you simply won't be given points for a block clear, i presume because two blocks were cleared on the same frame. But this will fail you on a Par Score, meaning even though you perfectly did a level, you don't get the coin. It only happened a handful of times in 5 hours, but something was amiss there. There's also the issue of chico himself. You impart your current movement to the ball when you hit it. if you're stationary, the ball keeps its speed. if you're moving with the ball, it speeds up, and the opposite is also true. However, sometimes you'll be moving, then let go of the dpad, and then press the attack button by itself, and he will like, hop over a tiny bit in the direction you had been moving. This may be intentional, but sometimes he does it in the opposite direction i expect, and sometimes he doesn't do it at all, and in the later boards of the game, this subtle issue will cost you that coin. But again, these are very small problems that can be fixed, and didn't do much to sour my opinion of the game. I do feel a little let down there wasn't a reward for completing all the secret stages and 100%ing, but you can't have everything. It's a fun, frantic little action puzzle game and you should check it out. it's better than i expected and i definitely recommend it for the price. -- Also, the Special Stage doors that have " ??? undefined NaN" as its text is apparently on purpose. i really don't get it, but like, okay!
this game is SUPER fun and cute!! i'm so glad i took a chance on it!
This game is fun and family friendly game with challenges suitable for all levels of gamers. I really enjoyed the first game and I'm glad that there's a second game in the Chico franchise. This game still has the same adorable character Chico along with other familiar favorites. Would highly recommend to those who want a satisfying and challenging game!!
Quite the fun game! It has its flaws, namely some notable difficulty spikes when going for 100% completion
I'm looking squarely at you here, Special 5-3
. However, it has more than enough charm to make up for it if you ask me! In the end, I'd say the game is worth buying
