About
Break blocks, grab powerups, solve puzzles, and beat bosses! When a mysterious tower appears in the forest, Chico the Chipmunk and his new friend Beeatrice decide to go exploring. Waiting inside are a whole host of block-breaking challenges, clever environmental puzzles, and secrets to be unraveled! Help them solve the mystery of the Celestial Tower!
In the block breaking Rebound challenges, you'll be tasked with clearing every block from the stage by bouncing around Chico's trusty giant walnut. Keep a long volley going to get a high score! Do a tail-whip to keep the walnut up and change the angle of the shot. It's simple to play but takes skill to master!
And of course, it's not always that simple. There are over a dozen types of blocks, and power-ups for the walnut. Fire power burns grass blocks, spikes smash through blocks with ease, explosive power breaks stone, and much much more! Try different combinations and see how they interact.
Fans, cannons, ghosts, and more turn each level into a unique challenge! This is block-breaking like you've never experienced it before.
In between Rebound challenges you'll traverse the mysterious Celestial Tower, a large interconnected dungeon full of environmental puzzles! Explore all 6 floors of the tower, unlock new paths, and make your way to the very top! You'll meet a cast of characters who need your help, as they try to complete a secret mission. Can you solve the puzzles, uncover the truth of the Celestial Tower, and save the day?
Have fun and show off your unique style! Save up the sunflower seeds you collect, and you can trade them in for special designs for both your walnut and the game's interface! Why not bounce around a watermelon or a paper lantern instead of a walnut? There are a bunch of colors and styles to choose from.

If you like the following: * Breakout * Pixel art games with a Game Boy visual and music aesthetic * Top-down hub world with puzzles and unlockable doors to stages * Squirrels * Light story elements Then you'll probably enjoy Chico's Rebound. There is a lot of variety with the number of ball powerups, block types, and levels. There are boss fights too - also fought in a breakout-like fashion, culminating in what I consider a very climactic and satisfying final boss. Each stage has 2 tokens to earn. One for completing it and one for achieving a certain score. You get higher scores by destroying more blocks with your ball, and staying under it and pressing a button to swipe at it to send it back up. If you catch the ball by not swiping, or you lose a life by letting it get past you, the combo ends and you must begin a new combo. For many tokens, you WILL need to destroy most of the level’s blocks in a single combo. And you will need to get most of the game's tokens to get to the ending, but the game has a good difficulty curve, and by the final levels you may be adept at maneuvering even very tricky stages and getting both tokens in one go. The pause menu is chock-full of options and information. Key rebinding, journal with explanations of block types and story elements, assist mode including increasing the number of lives, and ingame achievements. The chiptunes music for the hub worlds and stages was well-done and enjoyable. This is a solid polished game and I highly recommend it!
chico's rebound has so much of the charm of the original game, and i'm so happy to see our friend chico again! daikon games have a real knack for feeling immediately rewarding, and this one is no exception, being immediately full of bite-sized puzzles that take no time to get going, and feel delicious and rewarding to solve. you get quick access to a cosmetics shop, with several exciting choices immediately and several even more exciting choices to save for, and the game's blend of gentle arcade gameplay and rewarding snack-sized puzzle elements feels just like the first chico but in a new format. these games are extremely cute, warm, and pleasant, and you'll love them!
It's charming and addictive, and satisfying to set up and execute THE perfect shot Edited after beating it: Some real imaginative stuff in later levels, had a blast all the way through
Two bosses in and I'm having fun! It looks and sounds great, too. I don't think I've seen boss fights in a breakout game before. It's an interesting twist on an old type of puzzle, and challenging enough I really don't mind giving that ladybug or pilot a good bonk on the head with a walnut.
This is a charming game. It ended up being much more than I anticipated going in. The story is fully fleshed out and engaging, and I really enjoyed the puzzles and secrets hidden around the tower. I was drawn in by the art style and expected more of a modern / retro take on classic brick breakers like Arkanoid, but it's something far more atmospheric and memorable. I haven't finished it yet, but I already know I'll be jumping back in as soon as I can. It's the kind of game that's best experienced for yourself. Give it a try and get immersed in its world.
I really like the little puzzles between each level. They're nice palette cleansers. :) I'm also pleasantly surprised at the number of mechanics within each level, including the boss battles. Ace has humbled me. Why can't I beat Ace. You're a punk, Ace.
this game is SUPER fun and cute!! i'm so glad i took a chance on it!
I can't stop playing this game, it's fantastic.
Quite the fun game! It has its flaws, namely some notable difficulty spikes when going for 100% completion
I'm looking squarely at you here, Special 5-3
. However, it has more than enough charm to make up for it if you ask me! In the end, I'd say the game is worth buying
