Amazing game from amazing series. And trust me when I say, this is not just nostalgia talking: Chicken Invaders is really one of the best Shoot 'Em Up games, even today in (almost) 2026. You'll have lots of fun playing this with family member or with close friend. Best part? You don't need controller to play co-op, just Mouse & Keyboard is enough. P.S. Don't forget about Christmas Edition DLC, it brings more fun to the table.
Thank you to the random person on SteamGifts for giving us the chance to experience this gem again!

Chicken Invaders 3 are just pure nostalgia
Long time ago I had a Demo of this one and I am extremely happy it work on Windows 11 no problem. The game is easy shoot'em'up with chickens as it's main selling point. It's best played on mouse and on novice difficulty. Wondering why novice? Cause "harder" modes just give chickens more HP and weaken your guns. That only makes the run longer, not harder. (Not that this is hard to begin with. Aside 2 bosses and a few waves that have chickens all over the screen there's no way you'd loose a life.) The story here (yea there is one) is a parody of typical hero story. I recommend to play one run for it, though only once. It's a one time joke only and next time it won't be as funny. I had a lot of fun playing this again after all this years. Worth grabbing on some sale. Just don't buy any DLC to this game. It's not any form of new content. NO new waves, just change of chicken skins and music in background. [strike]Well... maybe buy the Xmas one? That one kinda makes nice mood[/strike]
Chicken Invaders 3: Revenge of the Yolk is the point where the series begins to feel more confident in its identity, expanding its scale and introducing small but meaningful refinements that elevate it beyond a simple arcade novelty. Developed by InterAction Studios, it retains the same core concept—fighting off waves of hostile chickens in a fast-paced shoot ’em up—but presents it with more structure, more content, and a slightly deeper layer of mechanics that make the experience feel more complete. The core gameplay remains rooted in classic arcade principles. You pilot a small spacecraft with full freedom of movement across the screen, firing at incoming formations of enemies while dodging their projectile attacks. Controls are responsive and intuitive, allowing players to quickly settle into the flow of the game. What makes this entry stand out is the addition of a heat management system for weapons, which prevents players from firing continuously without consequence. This small change introduces a layer of pacing to combat, forcing players to think more carefully about their actions rather than relying on constant aggression. It doesn’t drastically alter the formula, but it adds just enough nuance to make the gameplay feel more deliberate. The game is structured around a large number of stages, organized into waves that gradually increase in complexity and intensity. Enemy formations become more varied, movement patterns more unpredictable, and environmental hazards more frequent as you progress. Boss encounters are interspersed throughout the campaign, offering moments of heightened challenge that break up the rhythm of standard waves. This structure gives the game a sense of progression that feels more substantial than earlier entries, even though the core loop remains consistent. A significant improvement comes in the form of expanded weapons and upgrade systems. Players can collect different weapon types, each with its own firing style, and upgrade them through repeated pickups. Maintaining a high level of firepower becomes a central goal, as losing upgrades after taking damage can significantly impact your ability to handle later waves. This creates a constant tension between survival and efficiency, encouraging players to play carefully while still pushing forward. The variety of weapons adds some flexibility to how players approach combat, even if it doesn’t fundamentally change the overall experience. The inclusion of bonuses, unlockables, and hidden elements adds another layer of engagement, giving players reasons to replay levels and improve their performance. While these systems are not particularly complex, they contribute to a sense of progression that extends beyond simply completing the campaign. For players who enjoy chasing high scores or unlocking additional content, this aspect can be particularly appealing. Cooperative play is one of the game’s strongest features, allowing multiple players to join in and share the experience. This transforms the game into a more chaotic and dynamic environment, where coordination and awareness become even more important. Navigating crowded screens with multiple players adds a new layer of challenge, but it also enhances the fun, especially in a social setting. The cooperative mode doesn’t introduce new mechanics, but it amplifies the core gameplay in a way that makes it more engaging and unpredictable. Visually, the game continues the series’ tradition of bright, exaggerated design. The cartoonish style is consistent and expressive, with humorous enemy animations and colorful effects that reinforce the game’s lighthearted tone. It doesn’t aim for realism, instead embracing its absurd premise fully. The sound design complements this approach, with playful effects and upbeat music that match the pacing of the action, though both can become repetitive over longer sessions. Despite its improvements, the game is still constrained by the limitations of its formula. The core gameplay loop, while polished, does not evolve significantly over time. New enemy patterns and hazards provide variation, but the fundamental experience remains largely unchanged from beginning to end. This can lead to a sense of repetition, particularly during extended play. Additionally, the increasing intensity of later stages can result in visual clutter, making it difficult to track incoming threats and occasionally leading to frustrating moments. Even so, Chicken Invaders 3 succeeds in refining what the series does best. It takes a simple concept and expands it into a more robust and engaging experience without losing its accessibility. The additions it introduces—particularly the heat mechanic and expanded progression systems—help give the game a stronger sense of identity, even if they don’t radically transform it. In the end, Chicken Invaders 3: Revenge of the Yolk is a polished and content-rich arcade shooter that builds effectively on its predecessors. It offers a satisfying blend of fast-paced action, light strategy, and cooperative play, all wrapped in a humorous and approachable package. While it doesn’t break new ground, it represents a confident step forward for the series, delivering a more complete and enjoyable experience. Rating: 8/10

I got this from a Random Mystery Steam key and I wish I had my dollar back. It's kind of addicting though...
