I... did not expect to like this game as much. It is the perfect example of the expression: “more than the sum of its parts”. I mean, it is rough in almost every aspect but still, it's becoming one of my favorite games ever. Ok, to be fair, the environmental design is impeccable and the game runs smooth as butter on my settings. It gives me the feeling of being there for real. The game loop: Even with a simplistic stealth a and a not very punchy combat, it is enjoyable enough I stayed exploring on almost every mission. You can't make traps beforehand and building them is often awkward, but it works. Companions: You would guess you would end with a roster of partners from a modest list but no, you get a rigid package of chums that will stay with you unless you really bother them. They each have their personality and quirks, with a rather well developed backstory. Unfortunately, they each are annoying as hell. Story: Just interesting enough to push you through missions, with a few predicable twists. Nothing too severe to stop playing. Many decisions have real consequences (that you could revise with an in game mechanism I did not explore a lot) Base building. It is present but easy to ignore. On you built essential structure, you won't use it very much out of munitions and healing items.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

As someone who played the original 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.' back in the day and came to like it so much that the experience stuck with him to this day, even though it was pretty rough around the edges, Chernobylite is simply not equiped to give me that same experience, apart from the rougher edges. Now I know these games differ from eachother in many ways, and I'm not going to compare them because of it, but what attracted me to Chernobylite are the elements they do have in common, like the depressingly dark dystopian setting and the mix between survival, RPG mechanics and gunplay. And while this game definitely can impress with its set pieces, it ultimately feels empty and unfocused to me. I'm being dropped in a walled off section of the region where I just start wandering from question mark to question mark until I make it to my main objective, clear it, and get out again via my portal gun. And during that whole process I generally didn't experience much tension nor did I really experience much at all. If I had to put a word to it it would be 'underwhelming'. And I think that one of the reasons to do with that is the game not guiding you through the start and beginning of the game all that well. My first hours felt incohesive and rushed, being thrown from one situation in to the other during the tutorial without a solid build-up or attention grabbing explanation. It was like: "Okay, here's this and you do that, and okay, now we go here and there is this, and right, okay, now let's go there to do that and that, aaand.. alright! You got that? Now play. Have fun!". That didn't grab my attention like an opening of a game like Half-Life would or Fallout or a VR game like Into The Radius which is very similar gameplay wise. That game builds up the tension of a nuclear wasteland full of super natural anomalies very well. By the time the game does really start I'm already not all that in to it and during the missions there isn't much that tried to hook me either. Or maybe it did, as my character would jump because he apparently saw or heard something I wasn't looking at. I don't know. All I know is that the gameplay started to feel repetitive rather quickly while the story didn't resonate with me and after a play session there was no feeling that incentivised me to pick it up again. That tells me enough. All that said though, it still deserves to be said that Chernobylite isn't a bad game. The very positive rating proves that. And credit where credit is due, the developers did have some cool and interesting ideas. I just think it wasn't executed all that well in a lot of places. And again, the visuals, the environments and world all look stunning, really nailing the whole aftermath of a nuclear disaster vibe. Although I should add that this is one of those games with a horrible TAA anti aliasing implementation where moving objects leave a noticeable ghost trail behind that does impact the gameplay experience for me. In the end a good looking game does not a good game make for me. Personally storytelling and good design are key for me and I genuinely think that Chernobylite is lacking in both departments, which is why I can not recommend it.
This is, for it's few flaws, a phenomenal game - excellent at what it does well, and just fine at what it doesn't. Worth playing in Russian with English subtitles (the characters are way less annoying in Russian, I promise), the world building is strong enough, and the sound design really makes the game. Playing with a gasmask on as often as possible adds a cool layer of immersion. The first few missions can be tense and the resource grind at the start can be a bit much - but once you've got some half decent weapons the midgame is satisfying and even at the end, with the rechargeable railgun, combat is still tense enough that caution and stealth feel rewarding. The companion stories are a little heavy handed, but the overarching tale is mostly it's a delightful low spectacle romp through areas you'll remember from Stalker 2. And you can get all the achievements just by playing the whole game on normal difficulty, without having to do any obscure nonsense. Would I recommend it to everyone? No- it's slower than a COD player would want and more text based than my wife would care for. The base building is almost all function focused with limited creativity (think base building pre-Fallout4), the food management system was never impactful to me, the inventory was only punishing because I recruited companions in the order I did (but that was my fault, you get pretty free reign to grab extra slots from 2/3 "optional" companions). If you enjoy: 1) Using a scanner mechanic to find resources 2) Making choices that feel impactful in the moment but can be changed at will without save-scumming 3) Mostly avoiding combat in favor of stealth but then being like "aw man" when you get in combat even though it's not ever horrible and you'll be just fine Then this game is for you.
Díky. It is an experience that'll make you question state of gaming longterm, in a good way. 10/10. Graphics look beautiful and run stable enough on low-medium on ~4K UW (see specs it's not lightweight but not as heavy like modern games, notebook)
