Reviews
A haunting sci-fi survival horror RPG that weaves non-linear storytelling, base management, and stealth gunplay through the eerie, foliage choked Exclusion Zone. The bad part is the severe mechanical repetition, quest clutter, and frustrating companion logistics. Searching the exact same overgrown maps for basic scrap turns tedious fast. You constantly get bombarded with new side quests while still trying to finish current ones, leaving your menu overflowing with waiting tasks. Managing resources and splitting scarce food rations among your companions gets genuinely annoying, as one unhappy teammate can ruin your entire crew dynamic. Furthermore, combat feels floaty and stealth remains shallow. The good part is the mesmerizing visual atmosphere, brilliant base customization, and intrigue surrounding the timeline mechanics. The time travel portal gun system feels weird and convoluted at times, but bending reality to rewrite past mistakes delivers genuine satisfaction. Building your secret hideout and exploring the photorealistic, 3D scanned ruins of Pripyat creates an undeniable, bleak beauty. A striking, atmospheric tale of loss and temporal madness, trapped beneath the weight of repetitive survival chores and bloated logistics.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Get Even was a First Person story-driven game developed by The farm 51 that encouraged stealth and clue finding, reconstruction with a fictional VR headset, discouraged killing and tried to be a lot of things at once. While it wasnt everyone's cup of tea, i LOVED the game. Chernobylite tries to be the same thing, and even references Get Even (i was actually SO excited when this happened!!!) but WOW, missed so much of the mark that game did. This game drags on way too long, has far more flaws and questionable design choices. The game looks good, gunplay is acceptable, story is KIND of good, and the game was cheap on sale. Those are really the only decent points of the game. The bad includes many typos, the black and white choices that make your companions like or hate you (which given more than a second of thought makes so sense), worse voice acting than Get Even. The stealth is VERY annoying as takedowns take too long and are too loud, even when you get the upgrade that doesnt kill them, and "makes it quieter", which eventually becomes useless when there are armored targets you cant takedown. The AGONIZINGLY boring gameplay loop of go into one of the same 7 levels, scavenge, do whatever side stuff there is, then do the main objective and leave, hopefully before the Black Stalker arrives is terrible. It makes the game drag on to be long and boring. A few missions were okay, but most of them were unfun. The Black Stalker is an AWFUL enemy, an idea without much thought that was executed terribly. Time consuming and annoying, nearly no threat but all nuisance. He invades your mission like a Dark Souls player and tries to hunt you down. Throughout the game he will have more health and be present longer, up to about 4k health and 5 minutes. You can deal with him by mag dumping into him while behind waist high cover, or hide, run 20 meters and hide again. Both RIVETING examples found here. https://imgur.com/a/black-stalker-s29r4Fj Neither of these were fun, and i played this on Hard, this isnt hard, it's annoying. He always teleports near you, so running 20 or 200 meters away wont matter, and you cant interact with things until he's gone. So he just kinda....stops you from playing the game for 5 minutes. It got to a point where i skipped scavenging and sprinted to my objective before he had a chance to spawn. You made an enemy that makes me not want to play the game and rush down the missions just so i wont have to deal with him. The story was predictable at times, interesting at others. There is a mechanic where you can go back and change your choices that i saw once, and never engaged with. Honestly i dont even know how to get back to that, i think it might require dying more? I beat the game with the choices i made, and since i didnt enjoy it, i wont be going back to scoop up achievements or change anything. The game was just largely unfun. I like FPS, i like stealth, i like the setting, but the game is just something i did not enjoy.

4 of 5 Stars for a AA That Feels Close to a AAA Chernobylite has a lot going for it, especially when you consider the size of the dev team. I loved a lot about the game but also came across annoying bugs. My rating oscillated between 3/5 at the middle and 4/5 by the end. Pros: Solid story with a nice balance of sci-fi and horror. Many main and side missions to complete, along with gathering and crafting tasks. Companions are distinctive, memorable and human, even though I wish we could've romanced one of them. Amazing skill system, with actual training missions for leveling them up. Decent combat, neither disappointing nor incredible. Cool way to handle deaths. Good stealth and open world mechanics. Cons Only checkpoint saves, which are frequent enough to avoid huge losses but still frustrating. Enemy AI that isn't completely clueless, but has nightmare accuracy when you start a fight. Weird choice of penalizing your sanity every time you fight, despite offering like 7 different guns. Bugs that can make you fall through the map, losing progress. Need a guide to achieve true ending.
XD

Impressive game from a smaller studio. Interesting and simple concept that makes the game a blast to play. Not flawless but objectively good. If you like STALKER youll probably like this game. It's not the same as STALKER in that your goal in Chernobylite is to build a base, gather allies, manage resources and complete your objective (unfolds as part of the games story.). You do this by traveling out from your base each day to gather supplies, fight off or avoid enemies (both monsters and people.), and achieve each sub-objective.
