Cheat or Die

Cheat or Die is a simple Game Jam project that's being sold for profit on Steam (this is obviously not ok). It's a simple mobile-app/Flash like 2D top down "stealth" game where you must pass notes in class during an exam to the target girl. If the teacher, who patrols the class, sees a note being passed, he will beat up the student and tie them to a pole. Since when is classroom child abuse an ok topic for video games? Anyway. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes this is a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. It's important to mention that this isn't a sincerely made, professional game, it's a Game Jam/demo project. Game Jam and other student/project games are not made for gamers, they're made for the benefit of stroking the ego of developers. It's obviously not possible for a game slapped together over a few days to be of the same quality as a properly, sincerely made game from a full development team with a full budget who take the right amount of time and put in genuine hard work to create a product for gamers. Sure, it is possible to slap together a game in such a manner, unprofessionally. This is a lot like driving a car using only your feet. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it's a good idea, and often ends up in disaster. I'm sure they think it's remarkable they were able to make a game without dedicating the right resources and talent to the job, but we must ask why this benefits gamers... and it doesn't. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience. Cheat or Die has the total ripoff price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.

Nice little game. It get you addicted pretty easily. 5/7 would cheat again

This game although looking simple at first, it has a lot of interesting and fun mechanics that make it quite tricky and challenging. The visuals are very fitting and although it looks like a "cute" game it has quite a dark side to it. The writing and character sidestories add a layer of immersion to the game as well! I didn't cheat effectively personally so i died a lot! XD

厳しい鬼みたいな監視員の眼を掻い潜りつつ、女の子の元にカンニングペーパーを届けるパズルゲーム。 監視員が眼を離した隙にペーパーをとなりの席に渡さなければならないが、監視員はうろちょろしている為見つかったら磔で、女の子に手渡してるのがバレたら一発アウトである。 なのでアイテムを使って監視員の眼を逸らしたり、睡眠薬や下剤を使って物理的に黙らせたり、紙飛行機で遠くの席に飛ばしたりとパークを駆使してあの手この手で一定枚数届けなければならない。 監視員もレベルが進む度にどんどん苛烈になっていって、犬を教室に連れ込んだり、禍々しい後光が差したり等してペーパーを渡すのが更に難しくなる…。 中々に緊張感があるゲームで面白いのでオススメ。 カンニングはダメ、ゼッタイ！

This game, althought it seemed very "simple" at first sight, i was intrigued to try it from the title that suggested to cheat otherwise you will... die It didn't disappoint, because turns out it has a lot of complex mechanics to help you succeed in your cheating. Also i really enjoyed the cute handdrawn graphics and aesthetic of the game I believe it is a very very good and promising start for an indie developer to have a first game like this. The dialogues were funny and edgy enough to give a shock factor and give a nice backstory to the whole platform game. 12/10 i would cheat over and over again
