Very cute game. The art style is simple but fits the game well. The music is good, has nice variety, and adds to the overall experience without being a distraction. The plot certainly gets more compelling and the pieces make more sense as you get further in, so what starts as a cute game grows greatly as it gets more into the world-building and plot. The story and writing can sometimes be rough in a few minor ways but have real soul put into them that makes this more enjoyable than many big budget titles that end up as bland cookie cutter products when they avoid doing anything unique in fear of doing something wrong. Very ambitious for a small creator and I've enjoyed it greatly right up until the end, especially with the way twists and foreshadowing are handled. Naho best girl, Mavarin close behind. EDIT: The initial review mentioned the biggest flaw I found was typos, but a patch removing the majority of these has made the line irrelevant so I removed it.
Very little perspective and descriptive writing. It relies heavily on back and forth dialogue, which leads to a lot of jumping around. It also contains sentences that contradict what was previously talked about. I wanted to get further into the story because of other reviews claiming it gets better the further you go, but the beginning was just too uninteresting and annoying to read for me to continue.

Planet Charmara'nın durumu her geçen gün daha da vahimleşiyor. Misfits dünyanın altlarında parçalanmasını durdurabilecek mi?
Charmareians is a unique mix of soft sci-fi and cute anime girls - and it just works. It has a compelling plot which thickens considerably the further in you get, and a very likable cast that feels refreshingly fleshed out for the rather short length of the novel. Each of the five main heroines has the potential to steal your heart... and they might just will if you're not careful enough. The music fits the spacey atmosphere well and doesn't get repetitive at all. Featuring well over 50 different tracks, there is enough variety for any mood. And, although it may not be for everyone, I appreciate the radiating uniqueness of the artstyle. It is easy to tell just how much thought and detail went into the character sprites, background drawings and CGs. Speaking of which, the novel surprises on a technical level with 4k resolution, moving and shaking character sprites as well as my personal favorite: segments where you progress by navigating through a minimap. All in all, Charmareians is a very charming visual novel, and I'm looking forward to see what Team Misfit Makers will be up to in the future. Varlim best girl, Naho close second.
ok!!
Before I played Charmareians, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
"Charmareians" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is yet another godawful cringey high school anime club dropout fan-fiction about, you guessed it, the "author" and his harem of underaged anime girl girlfriend/waifus (no, see officer, they're really alien gods called charmareians that are thousands of years old and just look like little girls so this totally isn't illegal officer so you can put away the taser officer). Ugh... this is peak cringe, and we have to wonder why there are so many of these non-game cringey fan-fictions about anime fanclub rejects and their anime girlfriends. Pretty sure this garbage got the author onto a few watchlists. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollution. So, just like no professional writing took place here, no professional software development took place, either. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at only 4 concurrent readers... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. The funny thing is, if you wanted to print this book, you'd only need to print 4 copies to satisfy the entire world's demand for it. While this E-book has no up-front cost, you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 4 concurrent users... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.
