About
Five years ago, a witch's curse beneath the red moon turned Chante into a fairy. Now she and her sister Elise search for a way to transform her back into a human, and in their travels they come across a particular town, which is home to a number of nearby ruins, as well as a peculiar shopkeeper named Aira, and a strange, mercurial fortune-teller who calls herself Elma. Could this place hold the key to returning Chante to normal? Or will it lead to more answers than our two sisters ever wanted to know?...

This game is interesting. At its core, it is an unforgiving, dungeon-crawling action RPG. It does not hold your hand and is punishingly difficult at times. It may have the aesthetic of baby's first anime (like all Carpe Fulgur games), but it's a solid game with a perfect level of difficulty and exploration, in my opinion. It scratches an itch very similar to a Souls game for me. Play it, get caught off guard, get bodied, overcome adversity. You'll have a good time.

If it's less than five bucks then it's not a terrible way to waste your time if you need something to fill a boring day.
An enjoyable but simple game
clipped out of bounds and accidentally go to title screen with out saving several times
This game is simply a classic, and shame on me for not leaving a review before now. If you enjoy ARPGs in general, or just action titles, but aren't as into RPG mechanics, this game affords the option to ignore most of the RPG side of things, if you so desire. Can be beat without interacting with anything but the baseline combat systems, some practice, and learning the areas, enemies and bosses. I've played it multiple times over the years, and even did some speedruns on an old account. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dPcjuMazUA Chantelise is an extraordinarily charming action RPG that's well worth your time and money. Combat can be somewhat simple, but the excellent level design and art makes up for it big time.
A short and sweet story of sisterly bonds and sacrifice. You'll enjoy this if you've played Recettear. What I didn't enjoy was how much you move around during combat to pick up mana stones but I did enjoy the spell charging system as it added interesting decisions on what spell to cast. Most of the game was a breeze to go through except for the final boss which was a fun challenge.
The ancient game design leaves a LOT to be desired, even for a 20 year old game. Maps are unlocked once you complete them once, but when you die you have to run ALL the way back to where you were. This sucks a lot when its a difficult boss. Gems overlapping can be an issue when you wanna pick them up in certain orders. Pickup is also the same as attack, so you might find yourself accidentally picking stuff up when you wanna attack. There is so much to the game that you would NEVER know without looking it up. The game tells you almost nothing. I got to the final boss with mid-game items because I had no idea they had several tears above locked behind secrets. That said, I enjoyed the game, and if you don't mind the scuff, its worth playing!
