Chamber One

This game has creative 3d puzzles that make intuitive sense, and a captivating story that motivates me to continue playing to discover the lore behind the facility. Game is for a great price and I recommend it for anyone who likes some puzzling fun!

The introduction doesn’t exactly break the mold of similar games. Once again, you take control of someone you know nothing about, trapped in an experiment they don’t remember volunteering for. From the explanation given by the robot that welcomes you, it seems the experiment revolves around transferring human souls into an environment that no longer requires a physical body. The gameplay and mechanics also stay close to what you’d expect from this type of puzzle game. Your objective is to make your way through a series of puzzle chambers, each focused on opening the exit door by using cubes and balls. Cubes are heavy enough to activate pressure switches that control doors or moving platforms, while balls must be placed into specific slots to trigger mechanisms. There are only a handful of stages, but each one introduces something new and gradually becomes more elaborate. At first, you’ll deal with forcefields that allow you to pass through but block cubes and balls. Later, teleporters, lasers, and deadly pits are added into the mix. Thankfully, death is never punishing since you respawn nearby and can immediately try again without restarting the entire puzzle. As expected, the experiment slowly starts to feel more unsettling as the story progresses. Small glitches and strange anomalies begin appearing, and eventually you’re sent into the office of the scientist behind the experiment. Between every couple of chambers, you also return to the lobby to speak with the robot and learn more about the world, your identity, and the real reason you’re taking part in all of this. It takes roughly an hour to complete all the stages, and the only extra unlockable is a free mode that lets you replay puzzle chambers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include the story-related sections, which is frustrating because one achievement can easily be missed there. If that happens, you’ll have to replay several stages just to get back to it.

Fun and short puzzle game, for only a few bucks. Puzzles aren't too hard, but the levels do increase in difficulty. The platforming takes some time because the jumping is a bit rough. I only encountered minor bugs. Overall had a good time. Really liked the soundtracks in some levels.

It's a pretty short game with simple and intuitive gameplay. The game does a great job at introducing new mechanics for the puzzles and layering them on top of each other. There's a surprisingly diverse amount of scenery in the game that keeps the game fresh. The story isn't anything to go crazy about, but it's still nice that it's there. The music is one of the game's highlights imo, but there are some parts where the music is too quiet. The game is only 3 dollars, and you can beat the game in about an hour. I'd say it's well worth it (even though I got the game for free). Give it a try if you like puzzle platformers and/or supporting indie game devs.

Absolute Empfehlung für Puzzle- und Story-Fans! Chamber One hat mich von Anfang an mit seiner geheimnisvollen Atmosphäre in den Bann gezogen. Die Rätsel sind abwechslungsreich, fair gestaltet und sorgen für genau die richtige Mischung aus Herausforderung und Erfolgserlebnis. Besonders gefallen hat mir, wie die Geschichte nach und nach durch die Umgebung und kleine Details erzählt wird, wodurch man immer mehr über die Welt und die eigene Rolle erfährt. Wer intelligente Rätsel, eine spannende Handlung und eine ruhige, fesselnde Spielerfahrung sucht, sollte Chamber One unbedingt eine Chance geben. Ich hatte viel Spaß und freue mich auf weitere Projekte der Entwickler!

Loved the soundtrack, but disliked the AI voices. Otherwise great game, keep it up.
