This game is really, really good. It feels like a cute children's book come to life. I love it to death. It has a great art style, it's really cute, it's informational, it's fun, I could go on. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who's curious about the universe. Btw if you idle for a few seconds, you can pet the cat. Absolutely perfect. 10/10 game.
Cat's Cosmic Atlas feels more like an interactive children's book than a game, but even as an adult, I still enjoyed the atmosphere it provides. Honestly, I picked it up because of the art, and I'm not disappointed. It feels like a point and click book to teach the kids about the planets and constellations, but even then, the art and music make the whole thing so cosy that even an adult can enjoy it even if there might be not much for you to learn. I haven't encountered any bugs or technical issues; my whole playtime has been quite smooth. Overall, it's a lovely little game to pick up for a child so they can learn something new. It may not be appealing to adults, though I personally enjoyed it just for the cosy atmosphere it has.
The postives: this game has gorgeous graphics and is very relaxing to play. While it's not rated for steam deck playability as of this review, it plays well with the "gamepad with mouse trackpad" layout. The negatives: this game has many glitches, is difficult to put in the right resolution for the steamdeck, and has typos galore. These typos can cast doubt on the validity of the facts the game tells you. The world is interactable, but 2 of the 3 levels lack the charm or explorability that I expected. Conclusion: this game is only good to play if you *really* like the concept of an interactable astronomy book. You will not have a smooth, bug-free experience.
Although, I didn't find a purpose in this game, I find its graphics, style and astrological theme heart-warming. You are a blue cat studying astrology. You have to read, look up the visible sky and explore space for the zodiacs, planets, asteroids and other astronomical matter. PROS: - Graphics, animation and color scheme; - Cats and astrology; - Nice, relaxing music; - Easy to learn mechanics; - Interesting subject matter. CONS: - No objective. Just tons to read and exploring space without purpose. I would have wanted to explore the space with the kitty so that he / she could graduate the astrological university or to make grandma cat proud. Something like that. All in all, a cute little game. Recommend it to cat lovers who are not in a rush and have time to explore.
I think this would be an ideal first game for a young child interested in astronomy. The controls are very easy to maneuver, and the content is educational and wholesome. Watching a constellation form into an animated illustration has an element of surprise that is entertaining to watch unfold. A lot of games out there inspire excitement and action, but Cat's Cosmic Atlas has a soft, muted color palette and soothing music. I could see this being a relaxing experience for winding down toward evening. The visuals are cute yet delicately crafted and clearly drawn with a lot of care. The feline main character has adorable animations. There are a few things that would make the game better. Voiced narration of the encyclopedic entries would be nice to see. Or in lieu of that, a function to tap on the more difficult terms and hear their pronunciation. This would make it easier for parents to read this to their children as a real interactive storybook. Just an idea if any more interactive storybooks like this are developed. The exit button to leave the game should have a confirmation. It just unceremoniously exits the game and could be easy to accidentally click on while at the main menu. Overall, this is a cute and cozy game that is easily recommendable if you're enchanted by the introductory video and screenshots.
First of all, why giving a thumb down to this game. It's because it's not a game. There is no other purpose for that program than learning about constellations, planets and more. This is the perfect gift to offer to a kid who loves to learn about stars and our solar system. Here is the gameplay for adding more context. - The solar system map : You move your character in a direction with your mouse, hover celestial bodies and click to learn more about it. - The North and South hemisphere : You move your character left or right, then you click on a button to make appearing a constellations and click on the little book to learn about it. That's why I'm saying that it's not a game, sure it's very pretty and the perfect gift to give to someone who really want to learn about those things, but don't buy it because there is a cute cat and because the dev chose to tag it "exploration" and "story rich". To me exploration is more than going left and right and story rich means there is a story which isn't the case, it's just description of what is this or that celestial body.

The intended audience would be children
Outside of navigating your feline friend around the screen and interacting with the Astral world to learn about their meanings and additional data around their history, Cat's Cosmic Atlas doesn't offer much gameplay or anything really worth noting.
Conclusion
It's like a children's book brought to life to teach children the world of the astral world. Educational, but nothing more.
