Traps, BoomBuckets, healing potions, basketball bombs, secret recipe grilled fish... Using items wisely can greatly reduce the difficulty of battle!

Forge armor from boss materials to boost stats (attack/defense/crit) or enhance item efficiency (CD/casting speed). Experiment with synergistic builds!
About Us
Cat Gladiators is developed by a small three-person team. We love Monster Hunter, so we wanted to create a "2D co-op hunting game." We simplified the weapon mechanics to make it "easy to learn but hard to master," while also enhancing the role of items—so more players can easily jump into the co-op action!

They might look cute. But it hurts when they bite! Cat Gladiator (It has MULTIPLAYER!) is a brilliant game. When you first start playing you might think: Oh, cute and easy. Well. Just you wait. The game has an amazing rhythm overall. You take quests, go into the arena to fight, get loot when you win, and then the upgrade journey starts. You have a very nice hub area with a lake where you can fish. There are NPCs that sell and forge for you, etc. The fishing itself is a great game. It's way deeper than I thought, and there are so many fish to unlock that buff you when you eat them before combat. I was really surprised by how much there is to unlock and collect. After about 13 hours I have good gear and reached Master Rank—but I haven't unlocked nearly half of the items in the game. You prepare for the fight and start looking for the right parts to forge weapons you like. The UI tells you everything you need to know, and there is a wishlist system that allows you to pin items you need onto the HUD (super useful!). The Weapons/Combat: Monster Hunter, but creatively adapted to 2D combat that reminds me a bit of Little Fighter 2 (in the very best of ways). Each weapon is basically your character's moveset, and there is enormous depth and individuality in how you can use each weapon. On top of weapons, you get items that are very helpful in combat. The trap and the barrel bomb are my favourites, but there are also healing items, stamina boosts, BBQ items that create a healing circle for your party, etc. Amazing! This allows for very fun fights when you learn these tools. I play Greatsword and Longsword, and I've tested all the other weapons as well. So far it seems they are all viable in solo combat, although some have amazing support capabilities, so they make perfect sense in a party. Multiplayer/Singleplayer: Another win! Super simple and effective system here. You can host singleplayer and decide to go online whenever you want. You can also look for online games in the menu and host a game directly there. If you need help, you can activate the beacon (blue cube in your base), and if you're lucky, people will join. Multiplayer combat is absolutely great: responsive, fun, and addicting (I'm not using this word lightly). If you are so lucky to get a great team, you will have epic long fights with monsters way better than you. BUT! Singleplayer is equally fun and even necessary. You can learn a new weapon without the stress of having to carry your team (like always when you main), and you can grind for parts you might need to upgrade the fishing rods (super important!!!) or make weapons/armor. And the true challenge comes when you solo later monsters. There is a leaderboard that ranks solo/coop, so you can fight for fame! The Monsters: I love the monsters. Not all equally, of course, but in my opinion 90% of them are really well designed and memorable. Fighting them means learning their patterns and behaviors, just like when you play the game where you hunt the monsters. The thing is: You walk into the arena and just go. The time limit is 10 minutes, and you can use heals and items as much as you want, but they are on a timer. Some monsters fly, some smash the ground, some use lightning, and some jump around curled up into a one-hit-death ball. It's very entertaining, and each fight is different depending on your approach, gear, and knowledge. You can hit off monster parts and get extra loot at the end of the fight for that. Loot is individual and just given to you in a menu at the end of the fight. And they all have complete armor sets! Rank/Gear: There is a rank system, and the monsters get more difficult each rank. Towards Master Rank, you get Dark Versions of certain monsters that are even harder. And then there's SP-Challenge. I don't want to talk about this yet because my therapist says it's better to let this heal first... With better rank (and therefore better monsters) comes better loot, and you can make better gear. The Bad: In 13 hours, I once saw a guy frozen in place while spinning with his dual blades. The menu looks a bit bleak. That's it. Verdict: You might have gotten the feeling that I'm kind of biased when it comes to Cat Gladiator, and that is true. So I can only say in closing: back when I played the demo, I liked the game because of the combat. Now, in the full version, there is so much more, and the unlock/gear system is amazing IMO. It's Monster Hunter without the bad kind of grind. So: + Great 2D combat + Fun in SP and MP + Difficult monsters and rank system + Fun gear/grind system with loot, armor sets, and unlockable stuff (also transmogs!) – I don't know, somebody will find something. 12/10 – Buy if you like MH and 2D fighting/beat-'em-up.
Best game I've ever played in my life, it's just like Monster Hunter, only better! 10/10 would recommend, fun to play with friends
