Cat Chess

The game is really cool saw it on YT. but there's a massive bug that causes the screen to flicker constantly and it causes Burn-in on the screen. I've never had this issue happen before and didn't think it was possible to get burin-in on this type of screen. This should be fixed asap as this is almost hardware destruction. honestly would not play it till its fixed.

The title of this game tells you 99% of what it is. it's chess in the form of playing with animated cat pieces with various skins that have unique capture animations depending on which piece is capturing which. It is similar to that of the old battle chess. This is one of those we need a middle thumb options. There are two types of people that should NOT buy this game: 1. People who like cats but dislike chess. 2. People who like chess but dislike cats. This game is neither going to be the best chess game with the most options you ever played as a chess aficionado or provide the fix for a crazy old cat lady who needs the real comforts of a live feline. That said, if you like chess and adore cats as well. This is the novelty game for you. And a novelty is how you should treat it. This is not a game for people looking for tons of player vs. player options. There doesn't even seem to be resign and draw buttons (unless I missed this somewhere) and there are no sense of time controls at all, just a clock which ticks up endlessly (not down like the usual clock). Simply put, this game is built for friendly chess, and if you know anything about how uncivil and monstrous people can be online when they can't be punched from 3 feet away then you'll realize real quick without time controls precisely how online play will typically go. You will either lose or reach a winning position wherein the majority of people will just refuse to move/stall until you quit. So, don't consider this your serious replacement for chess.com, lichess, FICS, or whatever else you play on. Secondly, if you are a decent player such as myself (I am 1600+ ELO on chess.com and during my prime many years ago 1950 ELO peak) don't expect the campaign (which is as some others pointed out 10 levels that don't seem to exceed maybe 1000 ELO at max) to provide you any challenge. There is a PVE section of the game though where you can set the bot upwards of 3000 ELO or so and get destroyed whenever you feel like it (so it is capable of challenging you outside of that). That said, we all know how (not) fun playing bots is to begin with. I decided to leave this review a positive one despite some of these issues because the game delivers essentially what it says it does. Sure, id argue outside of the cuteness factor it is barebones to say the least, but its cat pieces in chess. Its adorable and I do enjoy it (as well as the classical music included). ---------------------- Some suggestive tips for the developers to make this game more sustainable: Priority - Add a selection of time controls (classical, blitz, and bullet presets, and a custom) Priority - Add the ability to resign (not just leaving) or offer a draw Secondary - Add an ability to export PGN or some format of games played just after a game Tertiary - Add ability to look back/forward through the move list of an active game

本质上是个用造型各异的猫咪替代了棋子模型的国际象棋游戏。 除却基础规则和判定和国际象棋一模一样外，它最大的特色是不同的棋子交互时非常有趣且可爱的、猫与猫之间的互动动画，以及可以随时进行逗猫或者撸猫的场外交互设计。战役部分会随着关卡的推进而逐渐增加难度，AI的相关智能也会从拿国王到处乱晃、送棋等行为一路进化到严谨的战术部署。目前唯一存在的小问题在于判和成立的条件非常奇怪，希望之后能够提供相关说明吧。以及，如果能够增加教程选项（譬如基础规则讲解和进阶的棋路教学）的话，或许对于被该游戏的主打元素吸引而来的玩家而言会显得更友善、门槛更低一些。

Мяу-мяу надо мяу-мяу, что мяу-мяу новое и точно будут мяу-мяу муррррр-мяу мяу-мяу, самому лично мяу-мяу мяу-мяу в мяу-мяу мяу, и конечно же слегка мяу-мяу «мяу-мяу с мяу-мяу». Мяв! В мяу-мяу мяу-мяу приятная, муррр-муррр, я бы даже мяу-мяу, что за одну мяу-мяу можно вполне утонуть в муррррлыканье. Мрррррр... Не мяу-приятно в основном то, что мяу-мяу часто фыррр-мяу из мяу-мяу, если мяу-мяу, что не могут мяу-мяу... Фшшшш! Хшшш! Однозначно мяу-мяу к мяу-мяу! Мяу-мяу-муррррр! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Знаю что люди это выдумка, но всё же) И так... замуррррррчательные шахматы наконец замяукали в наших библиотеках стим. Для начала надо сказать что игра новая и точно будут выходить замурррррчательные обновления, самому лично бы хотелось увидеть в игре чат, и конечно же слегка изменённые "блоки с текстом". В целом игра приятная, я бы даже сказал что за одну игру можно вполне утонуть в муррррлыканье. Не приятно в основном то что люди часто выходят из игры если понимают, что не могут выиграть. Однозначно рекомендую к покупке. И если хотите сыграть добавляйтесь. обязательно сыграем.

[h1] Échec & Cat [/h1] Cat Chess ne cherche pas à réinventer les échecs, mais à leur donner une identité pleine de charme. Les animations des chats sont vraiment réussies et souvent très drôles. Les pièces restent faciles à reconnaître, l'interface est claire et l'ambiance est agréable du début à la fin. Que vous soyez débutant, amateur d'échecs ou joueur aguerri avec un haut Elo, le jeu reste accessible. Le style artistique apporte une vraie personnalité sans nuire à la lisibilité des parties. Le jeu propose un mode Campagne, du PvE et du PvP, ce qui permet de varier les plaisirs. Les succès Steam ne semblent pas particulièrement difficiles à débloquer, ce qui est un petit plus pour les chasseurs de succès. Mon seul bémol concerne le mode en ligne : en bas et milieu Elo, il est parfois un peu compliqué de trouver des adversaires. J'espère que la communauté continuera de grandir avec le temps, le jeu est sortie seulement il y a 4 jours. Si vous aimez les échecs et les chats, difficile de trouver une meilleure combinaison. Pour le prix, c'est une expérience très sympathique que je recommande sans hésiter.

This game somehow made losing feel adorable. Every checkmate comes with the silent judgment of tiny fluffy masterminds who clearly think they're smarter than you... and honestly, they're probably right. I’ll probably spend 30 minutes petting the pieces instead of planning my next move.

Very cute art & animations. But unfortunately there is a reason that is all they show in the trailer and screenshots. Buggy gameplay, little to no polish in the UI (lots of off-centered text, stretched icons, buggy text input, etc.). Yarn and laser pointer are only client side when online which is lame. Also they are already selling skins. I was quite disappointed.

Fun idea and it looks cute but the game has more bugs than I expected -- (1) When you win, there is no button to finish the game... you need to abandon the session; (2) On Steam Machine / controller, you can't scroll on the campaign screen (so I can't play game 3+); (3) No way to increase difficulty (enemy doesn't even try winning). I would gladly trash this review once above issues are fixed

I really enjoy chess, and I really love cats. I really wanted this game to be good Idk how you get buggy gameplay in chess, but they did it. No matchmaking or elo - instead you create public lobbies and chose how strong of a player you are. The only options are "Beginner" "Intermediate" and "Expert". Aint no way you're able to get consistent fair games with self selecting where you think you should be from those 3 options. Luckily, there's nobody playing the multiplayer - so you'll never have to worry about that. The "Campaign" mode also is a buggy mess and has to be force closed after each game. The animations on the cats can be cute at times :) Overall unless this game gets some sort of crazy overhaul, I wouldn't recommend buying this at any price.
