I gotta tell you something. It was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details.

English:
This game wouldn't have been bad, since it's a cute little wizard game that you could add to your library for free. However, it's full of annoying, poorly designed gameplay elements. There aren't any players, so a few of us decided to boost it. We started with Ranked, but the problem with that is that if one player keeps losing, their rank will drop so far into the negative that it will take just as long to climb back up as it would take to reach Grand Magus rank. By the way, the game doesn't display your rank points anywhere, so there's no way to tell how close you are. After that, we played Crystal Protection mode, where our goal to unlock an achievement was to keep the crystal from taking any damage for 10 waves. This is where the game’s bugs really shone through: if we summoned a healer mushroom, it would sometimes decide to say “bye” and go heal the enemy bosses instead. Even our own spawned slimes could damage the crystal. And if we died, the game would sometimes refuse to let us respawn for the rest of the whole game. The whole game was against us in this mode, even our own summoned allies. And "Quick Spell" uses up all your mana for a single spell—what's the point of using it?

Моя оцінка — ⭐️☆☆☆☆ Відгук написано: 22.08.2026 Михайло Punkel Кенебас ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Thank you for your attention.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
Cast & Spell (aka Wizards, always a bad sign when the developer doesn't even know what their game is called) is a dead PvP Unreal engine kitbash... basically Unreal's stock Open World Template and a few flipped assets (not a full asset flip, there's some bespoke ones, but we can all recognize the Arcane Arts Castle Kit straight away, and a few others harvested from the asset store). The reason this doesn't get the full "asset flip" treatment is the developer did genuinely build game mechanics beyond just the template they used and they really did try to make an (admittedly shallow and empty) sincere game. This was just a soulless PvP arena shooter with spell and magic gimmicks that didn't work out really well, so while some people picked it up and tried it, they didn't stick around. So, this is a dead PvP game. Why did "Cast & Spell" fail? Time for a video game autopsy. Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Hard truth. Developers often assume just because they published their game, it's going to "go viral". I'm guessing this is a case of the developers making this game in complete isolation without even bothering to look at what other PvP games on Steam already offer and considering if this was in any way better than the stiff competition. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. As usual when developers can't budget/create their own assets properly it turns out they can't do the other important parts of game development properly either, and that was a leading cause of failure... the game was a janky unpolished mess, un-fun to play, Many of the game assets, such as they are, are much higher than the general quality of the game and it seems apparent the developer has just plagiarised/kitbashed them. Stock assets are just there to be used as placeholders while the developer creates their own assets for their games, but what happens far more often is lazy/unethical developers just throw a bunch of other peoples assets into a blender and put their own name on the horrible Frankenstein's Monster that results. Like this mess. These flaws make this game fall far short of the professional standards we expect from a modern PC game. Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Cast & Spell has the ridiculous, laughable price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Metro 2033", "Company of Heroes" or "Outlast". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. There's enough defects and quality problems with this game that it's really impossible to recommend to gamers. Finally, I write these reviews to try help people navigate the thousands of games on Steam so they don't waste time on low quality products. There's over 140,000 games on Steam... Steam Direct is allowing an influx of around 40-50 new games every day!. If you think I'm wrong about this one, go ahead and buy it, download it, install it, play it and see for yourself. Maybe you'll come to agree with me after spending your money. Either way, consider writing your own reviews too. I'm just glad if my review help give gamers enough info to make a better informed choice.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
I can quickly see why this game is in the position it is in. A decent idea, but game design matters when it comes to fun for me. This game doesn't play well from its mechanics to its enemies.
